Hi all!

Back in 2015 we run the ' Inspirational Input Competition ' , see here: https://www.songwriter-forum-kitchen.com/forum/competitions/18/the-new-songwriting-challenge-is-on-all-it-needs-is-contestants/1013/msg10278#msg10278

We're going to organise the 2nd edition now! Please leave us a reply below if you want to join!

Here's how we're going to do it this time (the formal part):
1. All contestants deliver one inspirational input item (that can be: a song, a poem, a picture, a painting, a drawing etc).
2. We'll organise that each contestant gets a random selection of three inspirational input items (but not the one of themselves) to choose from.
3. All contestants have to write a song based on one of the (or two, or all) inspirational input items. This has to be a new song, not an existing one that matches the inspirational input coincidentally. We're organizing these competitions to inspire songwriting, not for showcasing ;-)
4. All contestants must vote and shall not vote for their own entry.

Registration for this competition has been closed See below (2nd post) for the list of contestants and the inspirational input which
-they have supplied
-they have been assigned

Competition countdown timer (competition closes fri 13 october 20:00 forum time):

Cheers,
:mart: and :db:

PS: So every contestant will have to write a song inspired by at least one of their inspirational input pieces (using 2 and/or 3 pieces is allowed as well, but you must use at least one).
The letters above correspond to the input below.

Inspirational input supplied by:

A. @Dutchbeat
Contextual info: 'My inspirational input is.... any aspect of the plane landing on the Hudson river thing, but in the form of a fun and silly, what happened afterwards, much later, video i just saw...'

B. @Leonard Scaper
Contextual info: 'I'll start.......I took this picture in northern Vermont, USA quite a few years ago'

C. @MrBouzouki
'Here is mine. It's a photo from Sheffield City Centre around 16 years ago.
It was the demolishing of the old Town Hall extension (affectionately known as the 'eggbox') and it was a horrible bit of architecture.
The juxtaposition of the old 'Town Hall' on the left and the demolishing of the newer extension on the right might spark a bit of thinking for somebody.'

D. @iiviivix
Contextual info: 'I have been house-sitting an old castle and the internet comes and goes as it pleases for some reason. I think the castle is haunted. too many strange things happen.
Castelvecchio di Testona (but situated in Moncalieri) is 1500 years old, it belonged to the franks, then the romans, then Monks and now my girlfriends family, as well as 8 other families. It's googable if you wish to know more =) because it is the picture I am selecting for this competition =) '

E. @Mar T.
Contextual info: 'I got a lot of storylines in my head when I saw this scene. I'm really curious how your storyline would sound in an original song!'

F. @Rachel_D
Contextual info: 'I went to a local village feast this night and there were some dramatic fireworks, synchronised with music... and I took a short clip of it :) (What strikes me most is the fact that these very small villages (approx. 3000 residents) make these really big spectacles, which bring out the locals' immense determination (and pride) and the effort that they put into things that they are most passionate about)'

G. @DanJames
Contextual info: 'My inspirational input is an extract from 'Too Many Names (Demasiado Nombres) by Chilean poet Pablo Neruda:'

H. @Jim
Contextual info: 'Here's a shot from the archives, I hope it creates some inspiration...it was taken in Montmartre in Paris outside a great bar/restaurant called Les Relais de la Butte, which happens to be opposite the atelier (flat) where Picasso lived for a while.  Musicians would come along and perform, and I thought the shot of the crowd was a "Parisian classic"...'

I. @MichaelA
Contextual info: 'Here is a pic I am offering up. It is by a photographer called Andre Govia who specialises in taking atmospheric shots of abandoned places around the world. He has a book on Amazon.
This pic is of an abandoned theme park which is about 20 miles from where I live. I love this pic, on so many levels, and am sure it will make great inspiration for a song! Good luck whoever gets it/picks it!'

J. @CrystalSuzy
Contextual info: 'He's a poem that well hopefully inspire someone or not ::Suzy:: '
'My pen is poised, what shall I write,
The mind is 'dark', it needs some light,
Some 'inspiration' would be enough
To trigger the fingers and do a rough
Transcript of thoughts which might be pleasing,
But somehow at present, I'm into squeezing
My brain, to think up a suitable start,
Why aren't I a person who's 'grey matter' is smart,
When out of the blue a sentence appears,
The brain reacts and the numbness clears,
To reveal a startling piece of Lit,
That suddenly becomes a Hit,
That would be great, but the chances are,
A million to one! Oh! Lets retire to the bar! '

K. @Bill from November Sound
Contextual info: 'Is this even remotely inspirational? I like it.'

It's time I got involved in one of these and stopped being a spectator.  ::OSMAN::

Looking back at the original one, no deadlines seemed to be the lure to get people sitting on the fence to be involved.
I think posting up the remit early, especially if this is the case for this one too, might get more take-up from members with time constraints.

thanks @Leonard Scaper
i get ideas about where that track (train) is going after that..... far away... turn to the right....

my inspirational input is.... any aspect of the plane landing on the Hudson river thing, but in the form of a fun and silly, what happened afterwards, much later, video i just saw...

but i think a song could just magnify any of the 208 seconds of that, or before or after etc.

Wow inspiring input already @Dutchbeat and @Leonard Scaper ! Thank you for sharing!

Here's my input, I posted this pic I took before, a while ago somewhere. The context doesn't matter. I got a lot of storylines in my head when I saw this scene. I'm really curious how your storyline would sound in an original song!
