Hey folks - it's the 25th of december and all of a sudden the spirit of  Christmas present jumped through the chimney and whispered a song about misunderstanding in my ear... but is the challenge still on? And if so, what would be the deadline? @Mar T.  ? @Dutchbeat

This is what I have - will be working on it a bit more and posting it in the other board for feedback too

Hi guys, here is a contribution. It is a song inspired by a line from TS Eliot's The Lovesong of J Alfred Prufrock, one of my all time favourites, for reasons that I shall no further explain. It wasn't recorded in my home studio, so the sound is slightly less than what I normally yearn for, but I think it will do just fine the way it is.

I hope you like it.
Pleudoniem: composer; bass guitarist; guitarist; singer; drummer; tap-guitarist - o, and yes... erm- a bit of keys. Open for collabs.

Here is my contribution. This is a pop song about a man who can't reveal his true feelings about a girl. The misunderstanding is that she thinks he doesn't care. The man acts silly and rude to make sure she doesn't see who he really is.

https://soundcloud.com/starise/a-man-i-cannot-be

A Man I Cannot Be

words-

I acted the fool, really wasn't me
I really love you, didn't want you to see
I pretended to be a man who wasn't me.

I pretended to be difficult
I needed to believe I didn't love you
I need you to see a man that isn't me.

I pretended I don't care, you are unaware
My lying eyes can't hide what I feel inside.
A man you cannot see

Can't hide those lying eyes x4

I pretended I don't care, you are unaware
My lying eyes can't hide what I feel inside.
A man I cannot be.

Can't hide those lying eyes x 4

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D @Timothy Smith , that is the spirit!
and don't worry, it is just meant to get some songwriting going and it is very ok to not end up with a song, that happens... :P :P :P ;D ;D

i haven't even started on anything for thi, i don't even have a beginning of an idea, not a hint even  ;D ;D ;D. for this songwriting challenge  ::) :-[ :-[ :P :P :-X :-X :-X

You speak smilies fluently, but are you sure everyone understands what they are trying to say?
Maybe 8 yellow smilies equal 8 yellow roses in Russia.
I think that only 6 warriors in this challenge is a poor result.
Therefore I promis to go upstairs at 6, and make my contribution to this game.

Being unwillingly the one who started it in the first place makes me equally liable.
Of course I sort of download @budhabuilding s thingy. If you wont be able to hear it, I can always say its a slight misunderstanding.

Like my lyrics. The classic misunderstandings between men and women. Shamelessly exploited by the media.
And by me.
So would you please reverse my opting out and count me in again? Who says that being fickle is a feminine thing?
Thank you for reading this.
Thank you even more for trying to understand.
Kind regards, Gus

hi @Timothy Smith ,  your song for the misunderstanding songwriting challenge sounds very good to me  ::thumb:: ::thumb:: ::thumb::

very, very nice  ::headphone:: ::headphone:: ::headphone::

perhaps you want a separate thread in the songs for review section for your entry, because else your entry may be sort of burried / hidden in this thread..

and @gus, i mean @LePlongeur , very nice to hear you are also going to make a song for this challenge

i have not used @budhabuilding 's kitchen sounds plugin in my entry that i made with @Leonard Scaper ....and that is because i am very ignorant when it comes to computers, and perhaps i am also pretty ignorant in general  ::) ::) ::) :P :P :P

and to be honest, i sort of feel a bit like i am done with making and mixing our entry (i heard it too much at the moment), this  one:

https://www.songwriter-forum-kitchen.com/forum/songs-for-review/2/the-discussions-during-christmas-diner-completely-went-wrong/5008/msg54022#msg54022

who knows... perhaps the judges @Mar T. , @DishWasher and all other members are lenient with us?....  :loveit: :loveit: :loveit: :shinyteeth: :shinyteeth: :shinyteeth:

@Dutchbeat aaaaaaah....  :-\ well, my misconception was that I forgot all about the Kitchen VST.  I apologise. It is a nice app though, so I will be using it sometime for a next song.

My song is in...a close thing!  ;D

As for the VST I thought it best to use it at a frequency that only dogs can hear, as there needs to be more songs for pets I feel. But if you ask a dog if they can hear it, well they will undoubtedly woof 'yes'! I believe @Dutchbeat and @LePlongeur have done the same thing!  ;D

Anyway, good luck to all!  ::thumb::
If you like novels with a musical theme, why not try 'Sixth Beatle - When Music Changed The World', easily found on Amazon and Google. It is amazing, although as the author I may be biased!
