No news yet, got the instrumental stems but @CrystalSuzy wanted to redo a few parts of the vox so I'm currently waiting for the vocals tracks before I can get started.

OK, first draft. Probably a little too early to share, still feeling my way through it but what the heck, here it is as of now  ;D
I put the original and new mix in a playlist for easy comparison. I tried to match the volumes between the two as much I as could.
Not a huge difference between the two, I'm aiming for a slightly more crisp and open mix with focus on the vocals.
Dropped the congas in the first verse since they were driving me mad, sorry @CrystalSuzy.
Think I'm in the ballpark but it sure needs tweaking esp levels, as an example I have not made up my mind if the lead is the female or the male part or if they are both lead. I may have overdone the crispness a bit as well, could be the mix bordering on harsh or maybe my ears just needs a rest  :)

Any input on the mix so far welcome...

Stay tuned.  :)

Your mix is sounding good already. I definitely agree with the removal of the percussion early on like that. Now when the bongos come in they make an impact whereas before they were just....there. Nice move there.

Good call on the conga's, JB :) I think the guitar sounds too crisp...you can hear the finger picks too much...maybe a little more warmth ::)
The female vocal is the lead...the male is singing the harmony and some unison, but they can also both be the lead and kept relatively at the same volume  ::Note::
I love how dynamic you've got the brass sounding when it comes in  ::thumb::
It's sounding really good so far though, and I can't wait to hear this evolve  ::Suzy::

Morning Campers!

Had a little listen on my way into work - beautiful song @CrystalSuzy!!

I don't have great mixing ears so I won't pretend to be able to comment in detail but I just wanted to say that the mix sounds crisper to me and WOW that surge at the 2.30ish mark is AWESOME!!! Just beautiful as it swirled around my little head. Can't wait to hear this progress!!

yes, the new mix sounds great to me, i personally think there is not too much crispness, it sounds good

the big part coming in at 2.31 is great, perhaps a big loud (i know, i should not comment on Loudness... ;D ;D ;D) but that does sounds spectaculair and the details in the music after that big part is great, that frivolous guitar bit..that flute at 4.05 and onwards ...wow.. how that flute 'shines' trough

i would say nice and crispy with great details  ::thumb:: ::thumb::

Well done! Crystal clear mix for Crystal Suzy!!!!  :)   It is sounding very professional!

I just wanted to bump this thread, because I think JB has done such a good job with the remix/mastering of this track  ::thumb::
It sounds so much clearer and that brass section sounds amazing  ::trumpet::
I don't know if you're finished with this track or not yet, JB, but I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate the time and effort you've put into this wonderful offer   ::heart::
Thanks, CS  ::Suzy::

Thanks Suzy, glad to hear you like it so far. :)
Not done yet, I've been working on it on and off partly due to heavy workload irl and party because I got a bit disappointed when I could not get it exactly the way I wanted and lost a bit of energy because of that. However, thanks to your kind works I now feel revitalized and can't wait to get home and start working on it, it is actually now that far from being complete I think  :)  :)  :)

Hey @Jambrains , I listened to this version: https://soundcloud.com/jambrains/ancient-city-1/s-b0CxH?in=jambrains/sets/ancient-city-mixes/s-w1K9T

Loving the seperation in frequency space and the 'live' feel (nothing unnatural going on imo). It sounds well balanced and clean.. The increase in energy-level at 2'45 is more intense in your mix than CS's version, and I think that's a great choice for this song, increases the contrast between soft and loud. Or you're just a sucker for the folk sound of course  ;) ;)

Thank you Yohan, for offering this service, excellent work!
I hope this service will be continued and that we all take part.. Waaaay tooo silent here!!

Cheers my friends!
