Happy if you're happy to send the MIDI - I'll let you do any further shaping but it's good you like the general shape of it.
Deal @MrBouzouki . Send me the files and let's see how I can make them sound with VSL. ;D

I'll see if I can add anything to the project next weeks @Mark Luto !
Well you have a moral obligation to add many things to this project @Mar T. !!! :o :P ;D :-*

And I have access to the East West Sounds Library through Composer Cloud X, so we have 2 chances to see what sounds 'best' to us.

Of course @Mark Luto ! I'll help mixing, arranging and mastering, I can sing parts, so let me know if I can be at your service. I will throw in a loud rock part and maybe even an EDM tune as well, both just a few bars. Ok?

Apologies @Mark Luto, my weekend got scuppered a bit because Saturday was given over to one of those "Great Get Together" street parties that have been happening here in the UK, and I was on the planning committee so had to pitch in really.  ;) Then when I'd recovered enough on Sunday to get ready for recording it, I realised what I'd been playing was at half the tempo of the bits of melody I had as my "melody blueprint", so needed reworking...net result - not very much recording (none in fact!).  :-[

Also, in terms of length, is 16 bars, i.e. about 40 seconds about the right length?  If so then I won't do any key changes, although I'll leave the end so that can be moving into a new key pretty easily.  ;D

No need to apologise @Jim , it's good to know you're on to something... ;)

About the length, I think it depends. If you're providing a "canvas" for other kitcheners to build on, it can be much longer than 16 bars, or maybe it could be used as a background loop. If your contribution is more like a finished part that stands on its own, I think (at least) 16 bars is okay. But if it's interesting enough, it can be much longer as well. The sky's the limit... :D

Groovin' in the Kitchen  ;D

I had fun this evening with an off-beat idea that popped into my head earlier today. I thought the rhythm guitar might be useful as a backdrop to others.
It really has been fun because I haven't played anything like this for many years. It starts a bit sparse and gets a bit more funky as it goes on.

Guitar chords C(m7), F9 (a bit of F13 extension) G9. Tonally it's in C.

I added a bit of lead ... because why not whilst I was doing it.

I'm not going to do any more with it myself now. It's just out there and I can move on :-)

Happy to supply Stems of course. I can turn off reverb and bit of tape delay that is on the demo.  I also have an underlying click track.

That sounds very cool @MrBouzouki , and I think it's a great basis to build upon. I added your demo to the summary in the opening post (Part 6). Thank you!

Please send me those stems, I'll put them in the dropbox so people can use them to develop the thing further...
The same goes for @Dutchbeat 's Part 4. Please deliver those files, guys! :D

Cheers,
Mark

I think I've got something worked out for DB's track, at least the lyrics/melody vocals  ::Note::  but only if you like it  :-\  I'll post it asap  ::Dutch::
I also have a rough demo track of the gypsy swing thing, that I hope will fit in...it's fun and it's upbeat, and I play some simple horn  ::Suzy::

I tend to record in 96KHz, 32-bit float.

Are you wanting stuff in 44.1 KHz 16-bit CD quality @Mark Luto ?

That's actually a very good question @MrBouzouki , one I haven't really thought about.
We've got different formats so far and I probably should adjust them... ;)

To be honest I'm one of those ignorant people who don't really hear the difference, so I'd be fine with using CD quality (WAV / 44.1 KHz / 16-bit). But my dropbox would be big enough for much "better" sample rates and bit depths. Any opinions?

By the way, you can send me your files by any file sharing service or by e-mail or however. I'll copy them into the shared folder so everybody can download them. And as soon as we agree on a format, I'll convert everything into that format. Okay?

Cheers,
Mark

Here's a very rough track of the gypsy swing tune in Cm   ::e-guitar3:: Cris's guitar and vocal was recorded on a little Dictaphone which I copied and pasted into my DAW and then added my vocals and horn  ::trumpet:: It's actually part of a full song, so I just chopped it up to include a verse, chorus and bridge  ::Note:: If it's too much or if it doesn't work in this key or at this speed we can play around with it  ::) I thought the lyrics were perfect for this collab though  ::Suzy::

Can't stop doing what we do
We gotta keep doing what we do
And if you want to do it, you can so it too
Ain't no time to sit and wonder
Gotta get on top of what you're under
Maybe you'll want to do what we do too

Bang your drum or sing a tune
Dance around, act like a loon
'Cause if you do, you're gonna fit right in
Don't be shy, don't be coy, jump right into total joy
Pretty soon, you're gonna feel it too

And if you're sad; if you're blue
And you don't know just what to do
You can call our hotline right away
Don't be down, don't despair
You know that we're always there
To play you songs, to cheer you up today

Agreed.  It's great!  ;D :D ;D

And it will fit with any track that ends with a G7, or even a G chord, so should be easy to slot in.  ;)

Will try to do my section this weekend, no street party/hangovers to contend with (hopefully!).
