Hi @oorlab
Yes, actually. We did one in the Hopi language .... it was done from the textbook CD .... where the man teaches the words and has the children echo. They love it!
There are, however, many many native american languages and few who speak them.

Or without words, @Bill from November Sound ?

These are probably not the best examples, although they were hugely popular ca 1961. The only year you can read upside down for centuries to come.

But, on topic:

Or

Their biggest hit in NL:

The reason I thought of the Swedanes, is that they did the simsalabim in English.

With 165 views a collector’s item. And indeed, I have one of the two vinyl lp’ssold in the NL.
The LP is recorded in the technician’s living room. Bed room recording studio sounds a lot more sexy, don’t you think?

Enjoy!
Kind regards, Gus

I was a teacher for drop outs in Amsterdam. In some parts of Amsterdam, a drop out is somebody who’ll be backpacking before going to university. In one part though, a drop out is someone who”s  been kicked off 6 schools, just because they tried to screw the teacher, did dope or other unspeakable things.

And after 6 of such slightly mishaps, they have a label hanging from their ear: one side says No Good, the other side says No way this one is ever getting better.

And when class was a bit tumultuous, in general with full moon, I devided the 21 or so kids into three groups. And turned them into a human beat box to enable me to ‘talk’ to the most irritating kid. What did they think? That a white guy can’t rap?

I am sure you can!
Works like a dream!
Plus, instead of 15% reaching the finish line, 85% did. Got a mortgage and started a family.
Great way to get people back in line.
Plus the question: is that the mouth you kiss your mother with?
Smiles from the guys, applause from the girls. And a friendly atmosphere in the group.

Whether you try this for fun or for control, that’s up to you.
Of course. Maybe you don’t like human beat boxes.
Am I more intrigued by your question than you?
Kind regards, Gus

Can someone do a recording teaching the words to "Freres Jacques" ? .... easy for many of you   ..... for American 9 year olds challenging and fun!
We would love it. Audio, video whatever is easiest.  :)

@Buma @EnelyM  @LePlongeur  .... anyone else fluent in French ... share this, please  :)

I do .... and I've done it. I worked in city school w/ 13&14 year olds for 9 years .... around here that's the job no one wants to do.   ;)

I'm working with little ones now in a different community. It is hard for me to explain these New England states to you .... a few miles down the road and it is a different world. These children need exposure to culture and language. Teach them how to pronounce "Freres Jacques" and you'll change their world.

Hey,

Just came across your thread... Ah you're a teacher! That's great :) I come from a family of teachers myself... it's fantastic when children connect to music. It's a brilliant idea to introduce children to songs from other countries. (I remember I was in a small class choir when I was their age and the music teacher had taught us a song in Spanish and I was so excited about it and the way the words sounded that it's still imprinted in my mind and I still find myself singing it at times! ... (ASIDE: I've just done a quick search to see if I actually find it on youtube - and guess what - I actually found it!! This is the first time I'm listening to it sung in the proper accent (!) >> )

Maltese song:
This is a fun song from my country :) The lyrics are about a horse-carriage ride and the sound that the horses and the small bell make in the carriage's journey along Maltese streets and lanes. I can translate each line for you if you need + can also sing it out to help in the pronunciation if you're interested... just let me know :) (see video and lyrics below)

It-turisti ghaddejin f'karozzin kollha mbissmin
mit-triqat, pjazzez Maltin, jitpaxxew b'dehriet sbejhin.
Il-kuccier ferhan se jtir bit-taghbija barranin

Chorus

U ghad-daqq tal-karozzin u s-sinjali tal-kuccier

Dan hu l-wirt taghna l-Maltin u bih ahna mkabbrin
Waqt li l-qanpiena jdoqq .... noti helwin.

Chorus
Ceklem ceklem karozzin ...... (x2)

Ceklem, ceklem, ceklem ......

OMG @Rachel_D  that would be amazing!

@shatiks  made me one for the kids to try  to copy him ... but Ukrainian is so difficult! ( I almost think you have to be born speaking it ... to do it ) It's fun to try though!

Anyway, Our school year is almost over but I would love to use that! Let the kids echo each line of you speaking it ... they will love it!

@Mar T. Oh thank you so much!!  <3
I'm really glad you like it!!

HAHAHA it took me a second to figure out what you're referring to!! That's 'noti' = notes (as in musical notes) and 'helwin' = sweet. So that's sweet notes / sweet melody.
