Sunbeams

OK, this is a bit of a cheeky one...

At the beginning of 2017, @acoustic-alice made a rough demo of this song (which she wrote) and I tinkered around with it... and then didn't record it until now hahaha so it's a bit (a lot) late! A few of the lyrics are mine, but the vast majority of it is hers which I have shamelessly hijacked.

But anyway, here is my version of Alice's song 'Sunbeams'. I don't think her original demo is up anymore, but some of you may remember it!

LYRICS:

Sunbeams

I've been thinking about trying to get to know you
All these things I'm dying to get to show you
I've been dreaming about what we're gonna do
While I'm wasting time, we both know that it's true

Bridge
I think I missed you before I even knew you
In my head I'm yours and you are mine

Chorus
I'll pluck a star out of the sky for you, and slip it on your finger
I'll find the perfect cloud and we can float away to somewhere we can linger
I'll stop a lightning bolt with my bare hands and then wrap my arms around you
I'll gather up a handful of sunbeams, and throw them over you, throw them over me too

I've been thinking about what I want to share with you
Please know I don't want to be unfair to you
I've been trying to learn how to play it cool
You're my kryptonite and I'm your biggest fool

I think I missed you before I even knew you
In my head I'm yours and you are mine
I think I loved you before I even knew you
I'll be yours and you can be mine

Hi @jameshargreaves, I don't remember the original, but have given this a couple of listens.  The production is full and lush and as usual you give a well turned-out production, but I really want there to be some greater differentiation between the sections...I know the chords change, but the instrumentation, phrasing and presence remains the same throughout, and it makes it less enjoyable, in my opinion.

Anyway, stop stealing songs you rotter!  :P

the vocals sound good. Crystal clear production. If I'd heard this on the radio I wouldn't be surprised.
indeed if you want to get some more diversity you could change some aspect - possibly after 1.30.
Cheers

I wonder if you could add more variation by adding more vocal parts, throw in different harmonies to give variation without having to change the instrumentation ?
It would be an interesting experiment in any event !
