Ok, I've added a competitions section to the discussion categories of this forum. Kafla recently suggested hosting a Christmas Song Competition and I would love to see forum members take part. Everyone is more than welcome to enter the same song in a number of similar Christmas Competitions that may be running on different forums. I believe that would be a great way for writers to obtain maximum exposure for their work, whilst the associated reviews will help us all hone our writing skills.
Important Dates to remember:
The Competition will be open to entries from Midday, Sunday 1st December, 2013. All entrants should submit their work by Midday on Sunday 15th December. Winners: (1st, 2nd and third place) will be announced approximately midday on Sunday 22nd December. Please send a personal message indicating your votes to Wicked Deeds. Voting to commence immediately after the entry closing date/time - last chance to vote will be Sunday 22nd December 2013, 10:00 am.
Scoring:
I'd like to tweak Kafla's suggestion a little. All entries scored out of 10 in the 4 areas: Melody, Lyrics, performance and production. We all have different skills so we should be able play to our own strengths with the marking based upon 4 different areas. If you intend to submit your work, then please note that you will be expected to vote. Failure to do so will mean that your entry is not considered for a finalist position.
Prizes
The links to three winning entries will appear in a Competition Winners section category on this forum for a period of two weeks.
I'll produce a track for the 1st placed winning entry. (A different song to your Christmas entry). All I ask is that you perform the song on your 1st instrument. Ensure that the track is played in time to a click track or drum loop and that you are able to send an mp3/mp4 of your performance including the B.P.M for your song to my email address which I will pm to the winner. A chord and lyric chart will also be helpful.
Whilst there are many great producers out there, much better than myself, I will endeavour to produce and play the instruments on your demo to the best of my ability. I no longer have an electric guitar so please note that I will play either classical or acoustic guitar on your track. I'll produce your song free of charge in the New Year. Please be patient as I'll have to fit this in around family and work commitments. If you'd rather skip this offer, then I won't be offended! :-)
Kafla and Dutchbeat, I hope you guys are ok with this! :-)
Please indicate if you're likely to submit an entry. I'm looking forward to hearing a number of great songs, each with your own unique approach! :-)
