Cheers @Mar T.  :-)

Just got back from Lindisfarne again so I have more musical inspiration  :) :) :)

It's weird but yesterday I wasn't getting the slide animation, it was expanding out, pausing, then coming back in again.
The sideways sweep of the slide and changing message is much better.

EDIT: Right I've realised that the in and out animation only happens when you aren't logged in ;-)

The visual design is very striking and a lot of dedicated work must have been done behind the scenes. I am sure everyone appreciates that.

Main nit for me is that the purple/inky blue topic headlines are not that easy to read. But maybe it is my age!!!  ;) If I am a minority of one, please ignore me!

As suggested above by @Mar T. , I would also shrink the depth of that top banner maybe. The slider will give you lots of opportunities to highlight events on the forum, such as new challenges or voting etc, so that has to be a good addition.

Good work all involved and it is great to see the forum develop.
If you like novels with a musical theme, why not try 'Sixth Beatle - When Music Changed The World', easily found on Amazon and Google. It is amazing, although as the author I may be biased!

Hey @Mar T.  , @Dutchbeat     .... I really like the way the new profile pages look when you click on a member's name!  :) Could you possibly add a biography section and allow the banner to be customized? Eventually? It would be nice to click on a person's name and see what band/bands they play with and a little bit about them. I think it would clear up some miscommunications as well. ( i.e. - I play professionally and appreciate brutal feedback ; I play music with my wife and son and don't like criticism; I'm really bad at English so I can't really review your songs very well; etc....)   ???
@Dutchbeat and I were discussing a paid forum that is very similar to this and that is one thing they have that we don't.

Thank you @Mar T. for your dedication and time. Hasta luego!!! Have a nice time.
And thanks to the other Kitcheners for their work as volunteers.

Since I am traveling half of the first 38 weeks of the year, I am really depending on the apple club for contact with the rest of the civilized world, aka the Kitcheners.

On a iPad I have some of the drawbacks of the new layout. And I wanted to be sure that the draw backs would remain just that, instead of me having to adjust.

In short:
A light screen ‘mirrors’ far less than a black screen
I am glad with the knobs ‘unread’ etc, but like it better if they were larger
The send knob is periously close to the link to another topic (yes I was the one to post something in the wrong topic as a result)
There is very little contrast between dark blue and black. I can’t fully enjoy Dutchbeats thumbs up

I gladly would take the old layout instead of the new one to lessen the mirroring.
Now I have to lay under the table to read, while normally I would only be there at the end of the day.

I am really sorry if I sound negative. I don’t intend to be. But Db’s thumbs cause me to react.
Kind regards, Gus

I must admit that the one negative for me after using it for a while is the darkness @LePlongeur
Dark screens seem all the rage nowadays Gus.

I know from forum admin in the past that different stylesheet selection / light / dark themes are an option so why not have a lighter option for those members that might like the choice of darker text over a lighter background ?

I know you are very busy @Mar T. so if that can't be done easily then that's just tough.

agreed with @MrBouzouki  - the new layout, look & feel is great but a lighter background would be interesting to try out.

Cheers everybody and thank you for commenting!! We'll discuss the new layout next weekend at the kitchen summit, and I'll evaluate the technical implications and extract some to-do's to tweak the theme.
Unfortunatly (for those having trouble with the dark colors) that's going to be a choice that we already made internally. It's a popular style, so we'll have to adapt. But I'll do anything I possibly can to make it usable for everyone. Plz realize that 'everyone' means: people with their own preferences, working on different devices with different screen sizes. So it's never going to be perfect for everyone. But we can try to find an optimum..  ;) ;)

Any more feedback is more than welcome!

Cheers guys!

@Mar T. ,  I am really sad, your holidays are over.
I expect you are even sadder than me.
Don’t let it dampen your festive mood!

Congratulations to the management and everyone Kitchening all over the place.

Hang the flags out and let the trumpets play!
Kind regards, Gus

PS
Let the lay out be the lay out.
Everyone (even I) will get used to it.
At my age, everything takes more time. Goes for adjusting too.
I can even comb my hair with my iPad in hand. I count my blessings!
Kind regards, Gus
