Super Bowl Sunday
on: January 30, 2019, 17:14:42
Yes, that's right....it is time for the Super Bowl here in the States. There has always been a proud tradition of musical performances at half-time......which has faded badly in my opinion.

So....in honor of THE BEST (imo) Super Bowl half-time performance EVER, here is the pre-Super Bowl press conference by the act that was booked in 2007.

Prince was in my sorta living room (Paradiso Amsterdam) many times.
Very early, when he played the Hohner Tele (TE Prinz).
The Fender Tele’s at the time had a whooly sounding neck pick up. The Hohnerhas a bright bridge pickup (mas y menos) like the Fender guitars, but a neck pickup that was as bright but warmer than the Fenders.

Now this is a songwriters forum. Look at what he released when good and kicking.

Even if you don’t like his music, let’s 5ake a hat off for his incredible output.
Dis he bed Sheila E. or didn’t he? I don’t care.

He’s a great guitar player and a terrific songwriter. And most of the times I don’t even like his music. But what craftsmanship!!!
My ideas are not the yardstick! But his first gig in Paradiso before an audience of 400 people? magic!!!

Kind regards, Gus

He made that Telecaster sound amazing in this particular video. They say it's all in the hands...with him I think the guitar became an extension of his soul.

I watched him do that Super Bowl show back in 2007 in the pouring rain. It was amazing.

When I lived outside of Washington DC the Smithsonian  had some of his guitars on exhibit (along with others, not just his). The ones on exhibit, I think were made special and I remember they looked quite small. Prince wasn't a big person, I wonder what, if any modifications were made to his Tellies?

I never played a Tele but they seem to be a perfect fit for a smaller person.

To add a twist, it might not be a Fender Tele, but a Hohner (i did a little research on the net)

My Fender Strat is heavy, but I like the tone. It would take me two lifetimes of constant practice to get almost as good as he was.
