Back To kai Luum
on: June 29, 2020, 14:19:22
I don't seem to be writing as much these days....I'm okay with that because I find myself playing old songs that have gathered too much dust sitting in the pantry.

In 1990 I vacationed at an amazing place halfway between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen in Mexico. They called it a "camptel". We stayed in tents right on the beach with no electricity except for the dining hall. The snorkeling was amazing. Ten years later I went back. The original place had been destroyed by a hurricane and they had rebuilt it just up the beach a bit.

Ten years after that I went back again and stayed at an all inclusive two pool resort that had been built on the same spot.

I wrote this song on my second visit, not knowing just how prescient it was. The song slipped out of the pantry yesterday and I grabbed it on my phone before is could slip away again.

"The main thing is to have a gutsy approach....but use your head." Julia Child

"In a world of robotic conformity, the only originality left in music is the imperfections" Eric Craptone

"Special thanks to Steve Gleason for making me who I am today." Leonard Scaper

What a way to fight your way back. Hat off. Socks also off, because they're on the microphone. Creativity never stops!
Yes, @Leonard Scaper I almost forgot. What a terrific song. I like it a lot.

Back for another spin soon!
Kind regards, Gus

Looked up ĎKai Luumí. I thought it might as well be a Thai veggie dinner. And I was right, itís south from where I live.
(Smiley)
It looks like it has great resemblance with places I like to go with my tent and lay for hours on my back or stomach to count the white tailed eagles or snake eagles. No better way to come to your senses.
Thatís what Spain and Portugal are good at. These areas are protected for more than a century and will probable remain so.
And count the great bustard bird. (Ifthe translation thingy is to be relied on).
There used to be 200 left, but a couple of years back there were two flocks of roughly 20 each identified, so there are some 240 or 250 in Europe.
We didnít go to count this spring of course, so we hope for magic next year.
Is the Thai dish protected in any way @Leonard  or is it up for the highest bidder?

Kind regards, Gus

That's interesting, Gus @LePlongeur . It looks as if they modeled this Kai Luum after the original. The original had those same tents within palapas but they were right smack on the beach. There was no electricity....the paths were lit at night with oil lamps. It was nowhere near anything civilized.

Glad to see, though, that the spirit is still alive.
