Carry Me (live in the studio)
on: November 12, 2017, 01:16:58
So I was having a conversation about acoustic guitar microphone techniques in...another neighborhood......and a friend posted this:

I would love to hear one of your songs with absolutely no FX, EQ, Compression, etc...
Just some gentle reverb. And it would be a bonus if you tracked guitar and vocals at the same time.

Here is a tune that I have posted before...but this time I just played it live with one microphone and no EQ, no compression, no limiting. NO COMPRESSION??? I'm shaking from withdrawal.  ;)

Seriously, though...all I did was send it to a reverb bus. I admit that I did mess with the reverb a bit. I REALLY like how it came out.

What a great tone you have to your voice in this stripped down recording. If you can do that naturally, and you've proved it to yourself now, I bet you could be tempted to 'produce' a little less on those of your more slow tempo minimalist numbers in the future, because it will still sound great! Nice options to have anyway.

Well done on that accomplished one take performance  ::thumb::
If you like novels with a musical theme, why not try 'Sixth Beatle - When Music Changed The World', easily found on Amazon and Google. It is amazing, although as the author I may be biased!

How did I miss this @Leonard Scaper . Beautiful singing, Is it a higher placement than normal for you ? It sounds good in any event.
I came across it on SoundCloud and spent an enjoyable 10 mins busking over the top of it with my bouzouki capoed up for a more mandolin type sound.
It doesn't need any embellishment though as it sounds fantastic just as it is.

A Great bit of work

@MrBouzouki .....you're right, MrB, that is a slightly higher register for me but it feels good singing this song there. I love the idea of your capo'd bouzouki on this tune.....I can hear that.

Thanks for listening to this one.
