Lately
on: September 30, 2020, 12:13:00
Here is one that I did for a recent acoustic forum virtual meetup.  Normally we would play live in what is called the circle of death.  This was attempted to be replicated with videos where by you recorded something as if it where live - mistakes and all.  I practiced this song several times, and kept messing up the words.  Got to the point where I almost got the words right and went for recording it.  Only made a small fluff with the lyrics, but messed up the guitar at the end.  Did not do that once in practice!

Anyway please excuse the vocals, it was originally sung by someone with a far greater vocal range than I.

I know I have said this before....but this kind of performance is real music. This is what it is all about.

I think you have the perfect vocal range....for you......and you did fine with it in this performance.

Cool song as well.

Yes, I like this an awful lot.
But you seem a bit confused about your role here.
You excuse whatever, you excuse the singing..., that is definitely not OK.
You play and we post witty remarks and hope we do as good as you do.
You would help me an awful lot if you would post the lyrics as I am one of the not native English speakers.
And of course I promise to return for another spin.
A fine song @DavidHutton !!!
Kind regards, Gus

Yes , I am annoyingly one of those people that overly apologises almost just for being.  I will do my best to not excuse my singing:)

Here are the lyrics (Probably with multiple mistakes):

Ooooh Lately, Lonely
Ooooh Lately, Lonely

Lately, Iíve been walking in the moonlight all alone
Stars remind me of all the selfish seeds Iíve sown
Weeds are now where flowers were and nothing else has grown

I know now how I broke you heart
I know now how it feels to cry in the dark, alone, alone
Lately, Iíve realise what love really means
Learned all my lessons down here on my knees
If only I could go back to that time before lately

Lately, Lonely
Lately, Lonely

Lately, Iíve been reading all the letters that we wrote
Promised you a love so true, my life was full of hope
Alibis and telling lies is just a nasty joke

I know now how I broke you heart
I know now how it feels to cry in the dark, alone, alone
Lately Iíve realise what love really means
Learned all my lessons down here on my knees
If only I could go back to that time before lately

Lately, Lonely
Lately, Lonely

Lately, I saw you walking with another man
The moonlight showed the two of you were walking hand in hand
Slipped away before you saw the tears of a lonely man

I know now how I broke you heart
I know now how it feels to cry in the dark, alone, alone
Lately, Iíve realised what love really means
Learned all my lessons down here on my knees
If only I could go back to that time before lately

Nice work @DavidHutton   !!!!!!

NS leaves a like and a comment on your video and subscribes to your channel!   ;)   ( the reason I say that is it is kind of rare around here....)

I, unlike @LePlongeur  , see nothing wrong with apologizing all the time. Apologizing all the time is my jam. Actually what if the apology is the actual music? My life goal is trying to learn how to say "I'm sorry" in many languages.  :)
Seriously, though, you don't need to. You keep people's expectations low and then they hear you and say " Wow, this guy is good."

I like both versions. Very much so.
And look at the list of thumbs up posts on Sound Cloud.
You really made something exceptional.
And thank you for posting the lyrics.
And the song @DavidHutton
A fab song.
Kind regards, Gus
