Live - a cover for Autumn.
on: October 30, 2020, 22:05:23
Melissa and I kicking it live at our local vineyard.

It's just the two of us w/ no drums or percussion. That makes it hard for me.
It's rough, it's raw, its' live.

I know my keyboard playing isn't the normal kind of thing. I'm not a real piano player. I learned this type of playing with left hand bass from my best friend, Mark, who passed away last February.

That was tough for me but I like to think I'm continuing something his memory.

Thanks to @LePlongeur  for keeping me alive last Spring.  ;)

Too many words, I know. Hopefully you like this performance in some way.  :)

Hey, letís not make this any bigger than it really is. I liked our Zooma Zooma (Louis Prima) time.

Letís talk about music, cause thatís what weíre here for.
May I suggest that Melissa takes another inch further from the mic? Could well be that an inch, or a little less than an inch will make the spark in her voice more audible.

You are too hard on yourself. You are an excellent sax player. And you are a very good piano player.
Ray Manzarek did the first bass on keys that I know of, with the Doors.
And I have heard you play very nice things on piano/bass keys.

With this one youíll get a speed ticket/fine if you are caught doing that again.
No wonder the whole performance gets a less than perfect veil obscuring details. I canít even listen this quick.

Has this vineyard thing something to do with it???
Kind regards, Gus

Oh actually @LePlongeur she's using an AKG D5. Being a supercardiod mic I'm not sure if rules of proximity effect still apply.   ???
Distance doesn't seem to change the tone too much.  ::) I guess maybe we can experiment a bit.

Yes @Bill from November Sound , rules of proximity go for every microphone.
Not every microphone (equally) as much.

You act as if itís sorcery!
If you get close to M. youíll get warmer, donít you?
Goes for the microphone too.
When the snow melts and the sun shines, please take the gear into the garden. Let her sing and use your ears.
And (equally important) let M. use hers too.

10 minutes well invested I think.
But what a lovely song it is. French repertoire really suites the two of you fine.

Kind regards, Gus

Feels like I'm sitting in a bar in the fifties and listen to this nice voice of Melissa. Bill needs a Grand Piano rather but the organ fits as well, doesn't matter .... if someone is as good as you both. Thank you for sharing :) I enjoyed it much even my comments always just are without any competence. ;)
