Numb

I am happy admit that I am little nervous to post this.    I was planning to play this live in September 2019, but completely bottled it.  I really struggle with playing live (performance anxiety), particularly if I have to sing.   Anyway here is my attempt at replicating it, recorded on the phone.

I really enjoyed this @DavidHutton . This kind of raw and emotive performance is really what it's all about, imo.

I'm glad you posted this.

Nice work @DavidHutton  you seem natural enough to me when you perform! Your performance anxiety doesn't show in any case. I'm always happy to see more kitcheners join the live performance area and yours is no exception!
Good performance!
Keep them coming!

I enjoyed the introduction to your songs @DavidHutton . This is a good performance, both vocally and on guitar( the arrangement is more than the fingerpicking that opens;, is well thought out and adds some dramatic changes that surprised me).
Its a song from deep in the well and I found the lyrics both powerful and hard to catch at times; please post them.

Thanks Robert, lovely comment.  The lyrics are:

Did I ever tell you, you broke my heart
And though I left, it tore me apart
It seems like a life time ago
And those feelings melted away like snow

Do I feel glum
No I feel nothing at all
I feel numb
There's got to be more

Sometimes I light a match up
I hold it to myself with tender touch
I press it there and watch it scold my skin
Hoping I feel something within

Do I feel pain
No, I feel nothing at all
Only self distain
There has got to be more

For a while I found a new love
And from these dark clouds I rose above
I was her everything
Her man, her friend, her everlasting love

And then it happened
And she hated me
Oh careless love
I feel so low, you see

Turned to religion, found hatred and pain
Turned to drugs, and I'll do so again
So many empty bottles of gin
And yet nothing within

Do I feel pain
No, I feel nothing at all
Only self distain
There has got to be more

*******
Its a happy little number isn't it:)  The lyrics may be slightly easier to hear in the recorded version:

Again, many thanks for your interest.
