Radio performance
on: April 25, 2014, 14:31:32
Hey guys and gals!

At our student radio, there is a show that has a live band every week.
A coupla weeks ago the band cancelled, so I stepped in last minute.
First radio performance ever, was kinda stressed out and pretty rusty on playing lately...
But thought it would be fun to share anyway.
It's in Dutch though, so might be helpful to point out when which song is played.
Also it's just with two radio mics, so the sound is pretty flat...

15'52": Nothing Left to Lose
26'30": Waves
40'27": Pieces
50'29": Rags n Run (Admiral Freebee cover)

https://radio.vub.ac.be/xlair/player/nouvellevague/1230/

Hope to have more time for music again soon.
Til half of June will be as busy as ever, but after that it should get better :)

Haha, thx Dutch!
I think the K's Choice thing was totally by accident tbh ;-)
But yes, it was fun to do.
Not totally pleased with how it sounded, but it def. was a new experience :)

How r things cooking over here in the meantime?

PS: The Little Sienna Little thing is funny btw, since I'm 1m83  :p

Hi Sienna, i think you did very, very great, excellent in my ears

it is LIVE, and you sound very good, i sure you can get up a stage and get a crowd to really listen and enjoy your music just with your guitar and voice

also think your lyrics are strong, fasinated by the lyrics of Pieces especially...that has an edge, a bit of darkness....i don't think you want to tell what the song was based on...??

things at the kitchen have been good and cooking, but a bit quiet lately.....i think it will be ok, and it is only now we have reached the pass the Dutchy final songs (there is a thread with the end products in the competition section)

...but i think we need some new activities and ideas soon for our kitchen

Hey DB,

I don't mind telling you what the song's about, no big secrets or anything ;)
The thing is that I love telling stories and making them up.
Just a story idea I had in my head, but instead of writing it down as a booky story I poured it into a song.
Obsessional love that gets out of hand, that's the main thing.
Don't worry, not autobiographical  ;)

Wow  ;D

DB complimented your talent and courage, but I bow down and respect your confidence!  You are clearly a great artist by virtue of the fact that you are happy to play live!  I do some voluntary work for my community radio station Secklow Sounds, so now you have given me ideas to promote my music  ;D ;D

By the way, I absolutely love 'Waves" - a great great song.  I would love to hear a full production of this.

Hi Stephanie,

First of all: congrats on getting some air-play! That is awesome!  :)
And so was your performance. To me this sounded neither stressed-out nor rusty, you did a really good job I think.

I can only echo jmacdon, 'Waves' is a fantastic song, lyrically and musically! Well worth being played again - any chance you got it as a separate song on Soundcloud / Youtube?

And you've got such a beautiful voice, please keep posting stuff like this here!

Haha, Alexander, I don't have any gigs lined up right now :p
It was just a student internet radio.
But I would like to go out and play more over the summer.
Crazy busy with the last months of school...

'Waves' is one of the newest tracks.
Haven't found the time to record it decently, but I'll try to get it done at some point.

Thanks for the feedback, guys :)

i think pieces is even better than waves, guys and gals....sorry

all three songs are excellent, i agree, but pieces has an edge

(pieces starts at about 40.25)

and the entire radio show is very  professional, btw
with you playing and being recorded by two microphones and broadcasted live

that radio station is clearly being in control and capable to do a thing like this

excellent work from all

but especially from you Siennalittle, you have grown up fast  ;D ;D, and will become very BIG if you go on, just like this 8)

yeah, you will, your voice is excellent, perhaps you need to look for a band or form a band behind you
you writing the songs and performing them

with a fixed band

perhaps you already have a band, but what a great VOICE

Well, it's the student radio of our school.
We're all studying to be radio professionals. So that's a good thing :)

TBH, I've never really played with a band.
Or with other people for that matter.
Except for the guitar playing friend I went busking with...
Would be fun to actually have some people to play with. Arrangementwise and energywise...
But well... Who has time for that?! :p

Hi Little Siennalittle...very nice job on all 4 songs :) you are very brave and very talented :) you've taken that first step, so don't stop now  :) your songs and performance sound

to me, a lot like some of the female folk singers of the 60's and 70's, like Joni Mitchell, and that's a real compliment  :) :) so kudos from me

Waw, Suus! Joni Mitchell, that is a huge compliment. One of the greatest singer-songwriters of all times!
