Everything Not Broken

The only songs I've written in years have been for the challenges, but, as I was practicing this just came out. I think it will be called "Everything Not Broken" This just came from somewhere fast, maybe too fast? When I record it you'll hear a John Prine influence.

Was it something from a memory, or from a dream?

Thanks @Dutchbeat  - I'm always a little concerned that maybe the lyric imitates another song, because it comes out so fast and I have no subject in mind when I write.

It's amazing how few songs I've written since the late 60's. I think most have written in a year what I've done on over 40. I've almost got them all recorded now.

Hey @Vince ......these are good lyrics. They have a kind of classic feel to them in the way they dig deeply into the human condition. I get that John Prine thing already.

Maybe think about some sortofo bridge to break up the cadence of those verses.

@Leonard Scaper I totally agree with you about a bridge, sometimes I do wish I was more talented.

That's why I am having a different chord in the second verse - to make up for the lack of a bridge.  What I've worked out is a chord progression of  { I IV I ) {I IV I } { I vi IV } { I vi IV } In the 2nd verse though I will go to {V IV I} except for the last verse where I'll go back to { I vi IV }

I"ll probably record it in the key of A which sort of fits my "vocal" range. I'm always messing with my stuff, so probably some day I'll just be playing and blurt out the bridge.
