one small victory
on: July 09, 2020, 17:24:24
I wrote this years ago. As an excercise, I thought I'd concentrate more on the music and go for a minor key.

It didn't really grow on me. My excercise was a success though.
Just recently I've been producing it in a poppy way, lots of distorted guitar.
It's another strange song. More of a Frankenstein monster than a lovechild.
Hmm...

strength of the absurd, I've heard they're on to you

white flags waving over your winter chimneys
accepting defeat with no loss of face
don't waste breath on me, y'know what the truth is
carry yourself with an auspicious grace
with both of us wrong were I to agree
you'll grant me this one, this one small victory

then get back, find that not so much has changed
morning's glory was anything but honest
tidy lill' trap in a dec'rative frame

clearly out of view, loud, good at what I do
get what I want, things should work out just fine
never put the hood over tactile values
myopic thugs, most faulty by design
                                 prerequisite of our future history
it belongs to me, this one small victory

with both of us wrong were I to agree

@rightly   - interesting lyrics. Did you make a recording?
I liked this line
"prerequisite of our future history
it belongs to me, this one small victory"

had to look up the word 'myopic'

Cheers

Hi
@oorlab

With these lyrics I feel like I cheated.

I wanted to write a tune in a minor key
To observe the differences between mj. N Minor.
Like in an exercise

I knew for the lyrics I hadnít much to say at that particular time.
No uncleared issues.

This is not how I usually do it.
I granted myself permission to just come out with flashy phrases, create an atmosphere.

Superstitiously i wondered if my muse would be offended.
Then reasoned I could do this only While being very conscious of my steps.
Be prepared to drop it
At any moment.

There emerged a nice chord progression, I gradually
Fleshed out the lyrics
My head was in a strange place.

Usually in my writing Process passion has a much stronger hand.

Iím keen to get this finished
It nearly is. Hear what others think of itís Character
Itís a rocker. Lol.

I generally find there are some sentiments
That will resonate quicker than others.

Punk does anger , defiance
Reggae does mellow, tropical cocktail.

There are more sophisticated grooves / sentiments
Im usually more drawn toward them.
Here, as said, thereís more defiance, arrogance.

Itís a bit posey to be honest.
But itíll work in an album with edgier tracks.

I wrote it before the
Me too
Trend found its feet
I put myopic In there
Just saying.

Thanks for taking an interest.
And be prepared!
For Rocky stuff.

The hook is great @rightly ... I read through it twice and both times felt like I was not connecting to the arc of the story. The description of your process for this one explained that...

Always good to reach outside the box to see (hear?) what may appear.

The hook got me every time... stream of conscious lyrics tease open thoughts of the listener.

Interesting that your post flows in lyrical form.

Nice work... if out of the norm...
