The Devil

This is Country Pop/blues.  A fun song.  This is a rough draft of a song that been rolling around in my head. I am trying to make this have universal appeal.
Please say more than you need rhymes. How does this lyric make you feel? Do you understand my storytelling?

The Devil

V1
Eyes shimmering with passion
Hair-my hands itch to run through
Looks of attraction so strong
I feel the tension that long over due
Workplace romances rarely succeed
They say you're a player and I'm the game
You say your playing days are gone
Can I trust your words or believe action
Even the serpent lied to Eve

Ch
God send me an angel because
The devil wants to spend the night
Down on my knees begging -"oh please"
Praying for the strength to resist
But tonight I want to feel
God send me an angel because
The devil wants to spend the night

V2
Now we’re both adults
And I want more that just one night
How do I fight these urges?
If my cell phone rings
Or  a text comes through --What will I do?
This women has standards
I'm the take home to mama kind
You're use to girls you leave behind

Bridge
We could be like notes on a page
We could make beautiful harmony
A melody that speaks to our hearts

Ch
God send me an angel because
The devil wants to spend the night
Down on my knees begging -"oh please"
Praying for the strength to resist
But tonight I want to feel
God send me an angel because
The devil wants to spend the night--2 fades out

Ha ha--I might let him........

@Redlady

Very reminiscent of Faust's conversations and struggles with Mephistopheles. It's interesting how you are tempted, were tempted (did indulge once) and still are in desire but then also about 25% of you (what an exact figure! lol) wants to get help from God to resist said temptation. A constant state of limbo the song leaves us, the listener in.

Depending on the style it could work. I could see it as a very smooth jazz ballad, almost a theatre play, kind of like Peggy Lee

And on a side note, the Devil seems to be a popular theme today, I made a free-form recording today called 'The Devil and the Child' - https://peakd.com/hive-100421/@montycashmusic/yznqbqqx

Hi Monty  Cash Music

Thank you for your encouraging comment--  "Depending on the style it could work. I could see it as a very smooth jazz ballad, almost a theater play, kind of like Peggy Lee".   I was thinking more of country blues like Carrie Underwood "drinking alone".  Thank again for commenting

Happy writing
