Waltzing the Kitchen Challenge - A thread for odes
on: November 17, 2020, 09:36:35
In the course of the Waltz - Kitchen challenge, I remarked that 3/4 and 6/8 are highly misunderstood or not valued enough.
I do Waltzes and the like on a regular basis.

One of the first things I noticed when looking at the English language is how little respect there is for the Waltz. Very strange, so I decided to weave those ideas in, in my Waltzing waltz. And yes, what must be said must be said: An ode to the ever hard working @Bill from November Sound Cheers Bill, you're a good guy.

OK, the lyrics:
Waltzing the Kitchen Challenge

We tried to dance in triple time
with the accent on the first beat
Louis Prima said: Zooma Zooma
Now, let's guess: How did we first meet?

I'm an excentric, from the Low Lands
I'm a bit suspect I expect
an invitation every Monday
and its presence is hard to neglect

Br
It can be done with little effort
and that surprised me quite a bit
wasn't rewarded for my efforts
I never got the hang of it

Ch
I was waltzing the Kitchen Challenge
which - at first - I found heaven sent
when the PA announced: 'Change partners'
that was not what Patty Page meant*

There are differences between cultures
ask how I am and then turn around
there's much more that binds, than devides ur
we've got very much common ground

This spinnig 'round is not what I want
I'll have some wine 'f I want to spin
ask 'how are you' to French and Russians
and I'm sure that you'll drop your chin

Br
It can be done with little effort
and that surprised me quite a bit
wasn't rewarded for my efforts
I never got the hang of it

Ch
I was waltzing the Kitchen Challenge
which - at first - I found heaven sent
when the PA announced: 'Change partners'
that was not what Patty Page meant

*This is how much English has changed over 20 years. Crosby, Stills and Nash meant something else.

Kind regards, Gus

@LePlongeur  very nice good sir!
I am happy that it is dedicated to me and not ABOUT me!

I give you a friendly New England quarter inch silent nod and head off on my way!   :D

Us Puritans are very efficient indeed.
