Hallihallo from Leipzig/Germany
on: November 08, 2017, 00:08:56
He there!  ::Hoss::

My name is Torsten Torsten - this is my soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/torsten_torsten I'm playing guitar, hammered dulcimer and duduk and I sing. But mostly I write songs. Almost all of them in german, my native language and the only one I am sufficiently careless about to write in. I'm not a professional musician nor do I strive to become one atm. I just very much like to write songs and perform them whenever I feel like - free from the burocracy profi-musicians seem to have more than often.

I've attended a couple of songwriting-workshops and I go to a regular songwriting roundtable here in Leipzig, that gives me the opportunity to get feedback to new songs and sketches. I'm quite happy to have found this kitchen packed with musicians here. My first impression is, there a quite some serious songwriting folks gathered round here, right? :D

So, since I'm writing my songs in german: How do you guys reckon my chances for getting people to understand and support me with my songs here in the kitchen?

Best wishes,
Torsten

P.S. I don't seem to have enough rights to search in the forum. Or am I just stupid?

Hello @torsten ....and welcome to The Kitchen!

I am listening right now to your music and enjoying it. Language is never a barrier in music and your playing and singing style is very listenable. I like how you are mixing in some harmonies. These songs are nicely tracked.

Listening to "Apachenboulevard" now. This is really very good. What is that second instrument? Dulcimer? I love the sound of this one.....lots of nice natural room ambiance in the vocals.

Are you playing that horn part in "Eine Schwalbe macht noch keinen Sommer"? This is another very good tune!

Make yourself at home. Check out a few other threads and see what you like.

Hello @Leonard Scaper and thanks for your friendly words.

Listening to your songs atm, I admit that I like them and the way you arranged and produced them. You made me google for "light fandango".

Listening to "Apachenboulevard" now. This is really very good. What is that second instrument? Dulcimer?
No, that's a Mandolinette - an old keyboard zither from the 1920's.

Are you playing that horn part in "Eine Schwalbe macht noch keinen Sommer"?
I wish I could play trumpet. So this one is played by a friend of mine.

Thanks @Dutchbeat ! I hope I can be helpful for others as well.

@torsten ...thanks for that info and kudos to your trumpet player. That tone is perfect for your song.

....and thank you for listening to some of my material. Chuckling at "light fandango". I stole that lyric snippet from Procol Harum's old song, "Whiter Shade Of Pale".

@torsten

Willkommen. Ich verwenden, in Deutschland zu leben und haben durch den Integrationskurs. Ich bin immer bereit, Lieder in deutscher Sprache zu hören,

I wish some of the other people here would record more in their language all though I do understand you get more listeners in English.

Vince

Herzlich willkommen in der Küche, @torsten !

It's good to know there is another German speaker (and singer) among us. I've listened to your SoundCloud and I really like your style. Reminds me a bit of Element of Crime, especially "Eine Schwalbe macht noch keinen Sommer". And that's a very good thing! ::headphone::

Cheers,
Mark

Guten tag @torsten  - Schöne Grüße aus die Niederlanden. Normalerweise singe ich nur im English - aber hier ist ein Lied in meine muttersprache
https://soundcloud.com/oorlab/amsterdam-jankobus-seunnenga-dick-vestdijk-album-voor-het-land

Zauberhaftes Lied.

Good luck
