Hello from Jeff (jbfalken)
on: April 22, 2018, 16:30:50
While collaborating with Stan on a song (his lyrics, my music) he said, "Would you be interested in feedback from some songwriters I respect?" and I said "Sure!" so here we are.

https://www.songwriter-forum-kitchen.com/forum/songs-for-review/2/the-songs-of-angels-music-by-jeff-falk-my-newest-music-writer/4371/

My story is that I've been singing for a very long time, and gradually picking up some other elements of music (piano, songwriting, guitar, bass, drums, production, mixing, mastering). It's the study of many lifetimes, and I have a pretty immersive day job, but I find time as I can to improve. This year, it's been my goal to release some music publicly for the first time, and I've been teaming up with a few lyricists because I believe that collaboration makes music deeper and more interesting, and lyrics are the aspect of songwriting where there is the greatest gap between my own skills and my notion of what a truly amazing song can be. Outside of music and work, I'm very passionate about volleyball (I'm a setter) and I'm in the middle of a learning curve on chess. I also have a family (wife and 3 daughters) which is its own act of creativity and also a fairly immersive experience  :)

Nice to meet you all.

Warmly,
Jeff

Good afternoon Jeff, @jbfalken
Welcome in da Kitchen.
And of course we respect ourself, because we listened very carefully to pop staples (the staple singers) demanding that we would do so.

And I respect Stan even more, since I happen to think he a very fine lyricist. I like his work immensely.

This post balances on the fine line between self mocking and sheer lunacy, since i’m not a native English speaker.
So I hope you’ll be comfortable enough here to post your own music.
This is surely the most gentle forum population I’ve ever come across. I am curious already.
Kind regards, Gus

Hi @jbfalken ,

Hi Jeff,

Welcome to the Kitchen  ::headphone::

I appreciate learning more about your life beyond songwriting... you're one busy man  ;D

I think you'll enjoy the time you spend here (however limited that might be). This is the most welcoming, helpful, encouraging, and talented group of songwriters I've found on the Internet. We cook with gas. And we never spoil the broth.

Later,
Stan

I'm a lyricist seeking music writers to work with.

A formal welcome @jbfalken.

Due to the timbre of your voice I'd love to hear you teaming up with @Chris Spruit, who is also a member on here, at some point.
I think that would making an interesting combination. I haven't asked @Chris Spruit about this though so it's just a pipe-dream  ::) ::) ::)

Hey Jeff.....Welcome to The Kitchen!! I can hear years of singing experience in your voice.

Sounds as if you have a good amount of life experience.....time to write about it.  ;)

I love @MrBouzouki 's music. But where Kitchen hierarchy is concerned,
- he doesn't know shit about Kitchens (or)
- he doesn't speak French, since I'm not LePlongeur for nothing

And nobody lays a finger on my plates.
For the rest: I cook and bake bread on the electricity that comes off our roof.
And mostly I am LePlongeur, because George Orwell was. Makes sense, doesn't it?

There, I've said it.
Welcome, welcome, welcome.
Do you still want to be part of this Kitchen? Great. Shows character this @jbfalken guy.

Kind regards, Gus

Bottom of the class in French @LePlongeur ... I'm always astounded at how multi-lingual other people are.
I never realised what your name meant  ::) ::) ::)

Perhaps as a left-hander my brain isn't wired that way, science was always the fascination for me not words.
But now I find putting words together to tell a story is a major part of my life.  Oh Well ;-)

Hi ( @jbfalken ) , welcome to the kitchen!! And how great to see that you met @smajor online, Stan, thanks for inviting Jeff!
Jeff man, what a voice! Damn!! Love the track as a whole, it's a great package (of course with those nice lyrics from Stan completing it).
My story in music is much like yours, so I can really relate to your progress of developing musical skills.
Have a lot of fun in our kitchen, there's a lot of interesting, friendly, creative and brilliant people here. Enjoy your stay!!

Cheers!!

Hi Jeff!

@smajor is a great “recruiter” for this place, brought me here as well.

Shortage of time seems to be universal ;)

Welcome :)
