Here to learn
on: September 30, 2018, 00:58:06
Second attempt to post.Must have missed a step, but anyhow...
Hello Kitcheners!
I`ve enjoyed listening to a few songs here and like the variety . I also like the give and take guidelines  and will try to remember its not all about me.
Except this part: writing songs on and off for 30 years. Mostly folky and sometimes psychedelic folky. Still working on getting beyond guitar basic with my now arthritic fingers.
Which is why the  amazing array of digital stuff tempted me into throwing out the tape deck and finally record songs I`m not embarrassed to  send to family and friends... and  for the past couple of years, the world via SoundCloud.
I`ve met a few wonderful collaborators in my very limited online participation and look forward to what might be inspired here.

Hey @robertkc ....Welcome to The Kitchen!!!

This is the right place to be to gain confidence in yourself as a songwriter. We are ALL just trying to improve our skills and sitting around the kitchen table with friends while we play our songs is is the perfect way.

I look forward to hearing anything you can post. Don't let those fingers hold you back, man.......I'm an old guy too. Just stay within yourself and let the music flow.

You posted a SoundCloud emblem, which I took for an invitation to go and have a listen.
If that is the kind of stuff you intend to post here, I am glad you're here.

Specially the one with the Gretsch, although I'm not convinced that that is the guitar I've been listening to. Maybe with the tone pot closed?

Anyhow. You are shy about your singing. I have left all pretenses to better my workmanship behind and celebrate that I can write.
If this sounds a little strange, maybe I am not native English speaking.

So this would be my suggestion to you: I hear nothing wrong with your music. Maybe it's time to kick ass.
Welcome @robertkc
Hope to hear new songs from you soon.
Kind regards. Gus

Thanks for the welcome and encouragement, Leonard.  My fingers still work well enough to compose... I`m grateful for  virtual instruments and collabs with real guitarists so that I don`t worry about recording my playing.
I`ll do some more listening to Kitcheners and post something soon.

Robert

Gus,
I appreciate your welcome-I`m getting there ( ass kicking, that is ;).  I like the way you expressed how you celebrate your writing... its a good philosophy .
I`m not at all shy about singing, just the guitar playing.
Yes, those are my sounds- thanks for having a listen . The Gretsch isn`t my playing - I collaborate with a very good guitarist on a few songs  ( that`s the psychedelic factor I mentioned).
