Hi from a dutch girl(:

Hi guys,

At first I wanna say that I am so glad I found this site! I'm an 18 y/o dutch student, and I wanna go to the pop academy of the conservatory from Amsterdam after graduating (I should be learning for my math exam right now but oh well). Only 30 out of 400 students will be choosen though so I could really use some help!

I've been playing the piano for over eight years, I did pop & jazz lessons as well as classic piano lessons. Sadly, I started struggling with my mental health at age 12 and I couldn't keep up playing in the clinics I stayed. But I needed music in my life so I learned how to play the guitar and drums. I also started writing songs to cope with my emotions, so lots of the lyrics I made are very personal and I hope that I'll feel safe enough to share them over here. I made great progress in my recovery and now it's time to move on, I wanna focus on music instead of calories! I wanna inspire others and therefor I'd love to receive feedback. Thanks for reading!!

Lots of love,
Lisa - my artist name is Lynn Alyx(;

Hey Lisa....I'll welcome you to The Kitchen as well. That is a beautiful song and wonderfully performed.

This is a perfect place for you to share your music. We are all sharing bits and pieces of our inner most feelings through our music. I have personally been kept whole for a great many years through my music and after all that time I have finally found a nurturing and incredibly safe environment to let that music flow freely. In The Kitchen you'll get lots of positive energy and some good constructive criticism.

You have a beautiful voice. Perhaps you'll consider posting this song in the "Songs For Review" section along with the lyrics. Every one of my own songs scrapes a bit more emotion from the hidden folds of my soul and it is a wonderful feeling to put those lyrics out for all to see in a place like The Kitchen. Your life story resonates with many of us here so pull up a chair and join in.
"The main thing is to have a gutsy approach....but use your head." Julia Child

@lynnalyx Hi Lisa, welkom in de kitchen! Wat leuk dat je er bij bent!!

Thanks for joining the kitchen, and for introducing yourself. I'm listening to 'Flying to the moon' as I type, damn, that's beautiful! I love your voice and you can play a piano!! What a beautiful track!
And then you say you learned to play guitar and drums as well? Wow!!
I think there's a lot of songwriters who add some of their own inner soul feelings/thoughts/emotions into their songs. Sometimes songwriting is an amazing and effective therapy!
You'll find these in my songs as well, they're always partly (or completely) autobiographical. However, I lately (partly because of the fun kitchen competitions we're running here periodically) I'm discovering that I loooove to make feel-good and happy music as well. Isn't it nice to be able to create anything you want?
I hope you'll like it here, we're a 'safe' place, the staff is always watching and encouraging to be friendly and respectful to each others. I hope you'll share your secrets with us.
There's a lot of very nice, friendly, creative, talented and funny kitcheners here who love to help each other improve. So have fun, have a kitchen chair and look around!
Cheers!!

Welcome to the kitchen Lisa aka @lynnalyx !

Thank you for your personal and straightforward introduction. What a story! And what a talent! I really love your song and performance. And this very special, beautiful voice! Can't wait to hear more. I'm also curious about your guitar and drums playing skills... :)
I'm pritty sure you'll like the company here, everybody's really nice and amicable. Well, there are also a couple of rather crazy Dutch people ... but don't worry, they're harmless. ;D

Great to have you here!

I'm not gonna quote everyone but I do wanna thank all of you!! This place already feels like a second home to me ::thumb:: You can find two other songs at YouTube as well, my username is @lynnalyxofficial (: Sadly Flying to the moon is the only song I've recorded in a studio so far. I really need to buy a microphone to record at home cause I got quite a lot of unrecorded songs left. Might visit Alphenaar in Haarlem (for the dutchies) tomorrow and spend my last money ::Bones::

Anyway, this is for example a song I really wanna record cause live is nice but not ideal -->->-

Welkom! Beautiful song. The singing technique of the first few lines remind me of Coco-Rosie. Two sisters with very experimental music. You have a good ballad at hand! Good luck and hoping to hear more from you.

Hey Lisa,

Welcome to the kitchen! :) It’s great to have you with us! :D I have just taken a look at your youtube channel and have to say that I was impressed! :) You seem to be a very talented songwriter and pianist and your voice has a lot of potential :) I really enjoyed listening to ‘Flying to the moon’ – I love your chord changes and your singing style, the build-up, the way you write and the piano instrumental section  (esp. 2:23-2:50 – wow :)). I look forward to listening to more of your original songs as I’m sure you’ll be getting even better with time as you refine your skills :)

And I wish you all the best with joining the pop academy :) And I hope that you’ll find the kitchen as a helpful and inspiring place where you can keep on developing your songwriting skills.

Welcome karma for you :)

Thank you so much! Sometimes I'm scared that I'm being narcistic, that I think that I have potential yet in fact I have not. Kinda like those idols failures you know(; So I really appreciate the sweet comments over here, it motivates me to believe in my dreams.

I have bought a microphone!' So I can finally record at home and I got lots of songs left which need to be recorded^.^ So after my exams I know what I'm gonna do(:

Welcome @lynnalyx !

As the others say, I think you'll find this to be a safe and welcoming environment for you..

You remind me a little of a Scottish singer-songwriter called Rachel Sermanni.. Check her out - I think you'd like her stuff...

Look forward to hearing more from you with your new microphone :)!
