@MartiMedia: Thanks a lot! ... Yes, a collaboration at the kitchen competition sounds interesting! :) How often do you have competitions? (because I haven't really figured out how they work yet)
Haha see DB's response, we don't know ourselves either! But it would be nice to collab on a song that needs a male and female voice I think, has been on my wishlist for ages!!
About DB remixing your love song: as long as it is sung to a clicktrack it should be possible! That he can use only your vocal track and mix it to a whole new arrangement if he knows the chords...

it is simple, but we are getting off topic from this thread (sorry Rachel)

you time the non-BPM- fixed track, so natural flowing track as close as to fixed bpm
and then start on the first count, and look at the peaks and counts (building Reaper peaks!!! :-), grahicswise in the tracks
and just fit these and the BPM together......

the very exciting thing would be...you can even unleash them...back into the intitial human pace...and they still are glued together...
i know  :o :o :o :o :o :o many people want to know that secret...of that last part...and i

i almost have the secret formula...i do  :o :o :o :o :o :o

only took me about 20 years  ;D ;D ;D

but: back on topic  ;D ;D ;D ;D

why am in only finding this intro now?  I have been listening to your soundcloud on repeat for days ;)  I am a huge fan of free flowing lyrics and melodies built on simple structures.  I enjoy things that sound very natural and organic in their lyrical creation - so the idea of poem-songs really appeal to me.  As someone who only recently started adding music to words, I usually rely on the words themselves to create a distinct tone and deliver the musical quality through intonation and phrasing.  I enjoy the free format of your lyrics and the very subtle imagery that accompanies it - where you can quickly create an image or set the tone by some reference or phrase and never repeat it afterwards, which allows the image to linger and colour the rest of your words - I think a lot of writers rely on repetition of imagery too often to the point where it becomes too blunt so I appreciate the conscious restraint to your writing and it really resonates.  I think the examples of this are all throughout your soundcloud, but you don't rely on blunt imagery or symbolism - you rarely use the word "like" in describing something (i.e. "this feels like XYZ" "this X is like YZ") :) - you state what is and draw the rest from this context.  Or better yet, your title is the context and you write free from having to paint any further image or context.  So none of this bundled imagery of describing something "like water", "washing like waves", "drowning".  Am I the only one that finds this incredibly impressive?  :P

If you write as quickly and naturally as you mention, then it makes sense that you do not overstress or repeat yourself too much in the atmosphere you create, since it's not a writing exercise, but more like describing a scene or a memory or an emotion or a dream.  The difference to me is very striking and I hope everyone gets my meaning as i ramble.  Storytelling and confessions and journals through song are not easy to create and are very vivid when they connect.

I've already told you all this in some shape or form before but I wanted to make sure everyone gets to hear a bit of what I am hearing.  A naturally talented lyricist (or poet) is a very rare breed of being!

Completely agree Rabid, I consider that a best practise as well! Well done Rachel!! MM

@Rabid Parrot : Wow - what an in depth review! Thank you for listening and for putting down in words the aspects you like about my songs :) I am really glad that you appreciate the way in which I write. As you rightly noted I do like to be subtle - ?many a time throughout the song my mind mixes all the different experiences/ things I read/ saw/ people I met in one. Sometimes I am even viewing the ?topic? from the perspective of the different/contrasting ?characters'/'events? during the course of that 1-2 minutes :P The good thing about it is that it still remains vague ? sort of like a code, (which perhaps only I can fully understand) ? and the listener can then connect with the theme / mood and interpret the song in whichever way he/she likes/thinks probably reflecting his/her own experiences.... Thanks once again for your encouragement and support, I greatly appreciate.

@ MM: Many thanks MM, it does mean a lot :)
