Howdy From The USA
on: November 23, 2020, 05:27:25
I compose in several styles. Rock, Folk and Blues are my main influences. Some of my favorite songwriters are Leonard Cohen, Gordon Lightfoot,  Phil Ochs, Prince, Marc Bolan, John Hiatt, John Lennon, John Fogerty, Jim Croce, Tom Petty,  Garth Brooks,  Hank Williams and Hank Williams 3  etc..

I spent many years playing in cover bands, playing bass and singing lead and backing vocals. Those were some crazy times that I should write a book about.

Music and songwriting is a labor of love for me. I love creating music much more than performing it although I was decent performer and enjoyed it most of the time. I think that learning and playing 100's and 100's of songs over the years has influenced by writing style.

Hi @CGHound   I'm always curious as to how people found the site, for me I was invited by the world famous @Dutchbeat

We have some of the same influences, although I've never played in a band.

@CGHound  - very much welcome to the club! There is a member map where you can pin the region you are from.
I like the artistst you mention as influences. Foggerty & co a regularly played on the radio in the Netherlands. Hank Willams 3 is  not so known here. Do you have any particular titles of him, as tips? Here - for your listening pleasure a recent Dutch ''Country' artist  Danny Vera

Hank Williams III? I learnt about him from his Monday Night Football intro songs-brilliant, until he decided to cut off his nose with ESPN. He led me into the whole world of Colt Ford (met him when the planets aligned in Texas!), Moonshine Bandits and The Lacs amongst others. He also made me find out what a 'pig in the ground' was-maybe one day I will get to try one of those!!!!
