melbourne songwriter

hi everyone,

thanks for inviting me @Dutchbeat  i grew up and started writing in the grunge era, i’m a guitarist but have been in bands occasionally as bass or drummer. i now also play synthesizer even though i can’t play keys very well, generally with music i’m about the melody and the song more than the technical skill of the instrument.

i am getting singing lessons and am doing song writing challenges every week at the moment. as a songwriter, lyrics and singing are my weakest aspects, hence singing teacher and songwriting clubs!

lo fi indie pop electronica

is what i would have labelled myself a couple of years ago, but nowadays i dunno! i’m writing a lot of punk!

glad to be around like minded people, really appreciate that unlike in my teens, there’s now a way to reach across the void and find out how things are done, that i’m not the only one that struggles with songwriting. and that in fact there’s a wealth of knowledge we can tap into and share these days.

Hi Louisa @lu77    thanks for joining the Kitchen  ::thumb:: ::thumb:: ::thumb::

I hope you will like it here, and thanks for writing this introduction about yourself!!!

We don't have songwriting challenges as often here, but we just finished one see: https://www.songwriter-forum-kitchen.com/forum/challenges/18/the-magic-words-kitchen-challenge-voting-thread/5472/msg58780#msg58780, and that means that we can come up with a new songwriting challenge …(@all feel free to suggest what the new songwriting challenge should be...)

Great to have you on board @lu77  :pompom: :pompom: :pompom: :pompom:  ::thumb:: ::thumb:: ::thumb::

Welcome to the Kitchen @lu77.

Sorry I didn't welcome you earlier, my wife and I are busy in a contemporary choir and we had a gig on at Lincolnshire Show in the UK and some busy rehearsal time.

It's great to see you've already settled in and started asking questions, it's good to have a new injection of enthusiasm into the place.

It's good to see you getting singing lessons and you are actively involved with songwriting. We need to be stretched to get the best out of ourselves and out Kitchen Challenges are a great way to do this.

It's always good to get another guitarist on here :-)

I often recommend this YouTube channel site for singers, if you don't already know it. I've personally learnt, and I'm still learning., so much from this site.

Hi @lu77 Louisa, sorry for the late welcome.

Thanks for joining this place, it’s always nice with new members that have a self distance and self awareness which you shared in your intro. Personally, I try to be as transparent, understanding and friendly as I can but also encouraging and honest I dare to be. Hope you’ll find that many members are likeminded. Think it’s one of the reasons why so many members have stayed active in the forum for such a long time (just been here for a little more than a year myself).

Warm welcome from Sweden 🇸🇪
