Much Love to Everyone on Here
on: February 27, 2018, 17:28:58
I've put my first song up and got great feedback already! Love this site, really informative and will be using it to test future songs as you guys know your stuff!

Here is my soundcloud, if you want to check it out be my guest: www.soundcloud.com/lauder_music

I focus on sparse guitar, limited percussion and some filling harmonies - I never try to overcomplicate a song (I think it will kill my vibe if I do!) - it would be great to hear your thoughts!

Much love you awesome people

Hi @lauder and welcome to the Kitchen. I've just had a listen on SoundCloud to some of your tracks.

I like your 'sparse vibe' and harmonies.  It's always a brave choice to strip away all the distractions and just allow the melody to carry the song.
I'm a particular fan of melodic stuff over flash technique and I'm getting a melodic vibe from your tracks which is always a good sign.
I like the gentle tone of your guitar playing. This helps the listener settle in to listening to the story in your song.

Yep as I'm listening I'm liking your stuff more and more. I hope you stick around on here and we hear much more of your work.
It's amazing how this place acts as a catalyst to you doing much more than you thought possible.

Cheers @MrBouzouki !

I hope you continue to listen and like what you hear! I always try to write, record and release a song a month so be sure to keep listening. I think you may see more of my demos on here as it is a perfectly place to test the waters!

Really nice material @lauder .....an absolute pleasure to listen to. I love your laid back style.

I am one who likes to dig in a bit deeper to see how someone like you gets his sound as I feel that songwriting in this day and age of the self recording musician is about more than just writing and performing the song. I think we need to find ways to put out our songs in a form that is immanently listenable as well and you definitely have accomplished that.

If I may ask....how do you record? What is that guitar that sounds so good?

We do talk about that sort of stuff here from time to time in our Songwriting Ingredients section.

Keep posting your material. Glad to see that you write a lot.....I tend to post a few myself. I always need to have one in the works....helps to keep me somewhat sane.   ;)

Btw.......You can put your Soundcloud link in your signature.

Hey @lauder  , welcome to the kitchen! You're in the right place. I encourage you to get involved.... talk shop with some of the other writers, join a competition, listen to different kitchener songs and post a few of your own.  :)

Hi @lauder , welcome to the kitchen!! Listening to OK (Distance) from your SoundCloud profile. That sounds awesome, goose-bumps here!
I love that simple style. The fingerpicking sounds excellent, I love your singing (the harmonies as well) and what a beautiful unexpected buildup after 2'39''.. Chapeau!!
I'm absolutely confident you'll feel welcome here, take a kitchen chair and enjoy!! Fantastic and brilliant kitchenauts everywhere.
Cheers from The Netherlands! :bloodymarti: <----Welcome cocktail  ;) ;)

Wow guys! Love the speediness of this all!

@Mar T. thanka man! Will be sure to listen to your stuff as soon as my internet gets back online at home! I usually wing it when Iím recording, donít really have a plan and then create something totally different to how I imagined and the build up was part of that process

@Bill from November Sound thanks Bill! Will do, Iíve been enjoying looking through everything whilst I was at work today and already see that this is a great place for creatives to talk about their passion! Will get as involved as I can!

@Leonard Scaper yeah man of course! I literally record in my bedroom, I have an SM57 mic, with an M Audio interface, a midi keyboard and a few instruments. My guitar is a Guild (the same model Nick Drake had back in his day). But for that track, I just used my usual one mic set up but then when mixing it, I put some reverb on and took out the high and low frequencies through EQ. It essentially made it sound a bit like a telephone or megaphone. For some reason it sounded really good!

Just edited my signature by the way hahaha

Cheers people!!!

I am still in the dark with your choice of having the same guitar as Nick Drake, but I am more than willing to believe that at least one of your heroes is the same as one of mine.
Iíve asked God for the same kind of right hand, but he says youíre well under way and heís got other things on his mind.
Iím glad with your appearance here. The amount of people who understand what theyír doing? One up!

And for that I am really grateful.
Kind regards, Gus
