ROBERTO CIANCHETTA
« on: October 05, 2017, 03:29:26 »
I am Roberto, 45 years old (or young), italian, living in Berlin since 1999 (I wanted to stay here three months...).
I play guitar and sing.
I have a project, started in 2013 (actually 2012), already recorded at https://www.audiocue.de, mixed (by myself) and mastered at http://www.elephant-mastering.com. I want to press vinyls out of it, and don't have the cash to do that right now. I tried with INDIEGOGO but it didn't work out. You can listen to my album, called
PHILOSOPHY OF WINE, on soundcloud   https://soundcloud.com/roberto-cianchetta/sets/philosophy-of-wine

You can also watch a video or two about the recording days and a very nice video for the song THE MIRROR that my friend Aldo here you can find things he made and makes https://www.facebook.com/pg/film.advertising.design/videos/?ref=page_internal
And here to the videos

I am working on the next album, for which I have the songs and the demos. This time I will produce it (recording and mixing) at home, even if I would love to repeat such a great experience of recording in studio again!

Well, let's see what food is cooking in the kitchen!

Roberto

Seriously good instrumental music in that last one...."The Philosophy of Wine".

I'll definitely be watching the others during the day. Nice to have you here.

Hey @Roberto Cianchetta , welcome to the kitchen and for introducing yourself!
Wow man, that's careful planning; wanting to stay in Berlin for 3 months and yet still living there 18 years later haha. So I guess in the meantime you speak the German as well?  ;)
I'm listening to 'Philosophy of wine' while I'm typing this message, and I completely agree with @Leonard Scaper , that instrumental is amazing! You told us you 'sing' and 'play guitar', so who created this instrumental?  ;)

Well I've seen you were already getting involved here and comment on some Songs for Review from some of our kitcheners. Great to see that, we can only keep rolling if we all give a little bit more than we take.
There's lots of friendly, talented, creative and funny people here,  so I'm sure you'll feel at home.

Ah man, 'the Mirror' sounds very good as well.. Nice voice!! I'm already a fan! Haha..

Cheers man, have fun here!

Thank you @Leonard Scaper, @Vince and @Mar T. !

The song "Philosophy of wine" is also written and arranged by myself - with Christian Von Der Goltz, great jazz piano player (The fact is, I cannot write music, so I recorded first everything at home -with violins and everything, then I gave the music to Christian, who in the recording studio helped me a lot talking with the other musician about how the song should be played. There were almost no sheets involved, except for chords).

I am glad you liked "The Mirror", too @Mar T. !

Cheers,

Roberto

Hi @oorlab, thank you very much for your appreciation! i could say something about mixing, since I've passed the last three years reading books about it (Mike Senior, Bobby Owsinski and David Gibson: I would suggest to read them all; they all are treasures!), but I can't say anything about mastering, since I have not really any experience with it. About writing, you should tell me precisely what do you mean. Roberto

I have listened to your material @Roberto Cianchetta and it is extremely well mixed. IMO, a good mix should need very little "mastering" unless, of course, it needs to be subtly changed to fit with other good mixes on an album.

You could conceivable send one of your mixes to a mastering engineer and have him or her send them back as is with their stamp of approval.   8)

Hi @Leonard Scaper ,
the songs from the album Philosophy Of Wine were mastered by Elephant Mastering (even though the version you can hear on soundcloud was actually mastered for cd. I have also the mastered version for vinyl, but don't have the vinyl; that means, I don't have the money for pressing it).
What stands IMO for?

@Roberto Cianchetta  - I meant tips for writing. How do you 'write' music, do you write lyrics first and then music? Do you need to be in a specific circumstance to write a song?

Thanks @Leonard Scaper  :)

@oorlab, I often start with the music, but I can't say a reason. I sometimes start with lyrics. The only thing I really need to "write" music, is to be alone.

I've finally got around to saying welcome to the Kitchen.

WELCOME TO THE KITCHEN ;-)

Some interesting music on here. I've had a quick look at the YouTube videos but it's a bot late now so I will dig in to the SoundCloud tracks over the next few days.
