another art - a Bowie cover
on: May 07, 2021, 22:34:28
Where are we now?

I've always loved this song
Lots of Berlin references in this
I reside in Berlin, I think I've always liked this place

Anyway it's rare that I cover
this was done by mixing a German choir with my voice

Feedback would be lovely

All the best. Rightly

@rightly  - ubercool! Philip Glass meets Joe Jackson to do a Bowie cover. I was immediatley intruiged when Where are we now came out and covered it the same weekend https://soundcloud.com/oorlab/where-are-we-now-cover-david. How did you get a choir to do this? Hoping to hear more Bowie covers from you - and other interested fellow kitcheneers!

I searched DuckduckGo for Where are we now Bowie Songwriting and found
https://www.secretsofsongwriting.com/2013/01/09/song-analysis-david-bowies-where-are-we-now/.

It mentions "harmonic twists"  and the chords Fmaj9  Gadd9  Db/Eb  Eb/Db  F/C  B7/C  Bbm/C  C
( @Bill from November Sound  - do you know this sign  ?)

Hi @oorlab
That means half diminished.
The notes are: B D F A
( as opposed to diminished: B D F Ab)
 :ok:

I'm awful slow with
covers

I would like to do an album of covers though

I was thinking and even trying

Satellite of love - lou reed
(Bowie is very present in there, for me)

and
Strange relationship - prince
and
Make you feel my love - Dylan

I am wary of covering though.
