What a cool section this is.  So glad i popped in to say hi to my music friends and here is a new forum section on alternate arts .......  Wonderful.

i have just finshed a four month tour of the South Island of New Zealand so here are a few of my snaps......

I dont wish to flood the forum with photos so if anyone likes these and wants a pic a day follow me on instagram #allankilgourphotography and you will get a new pic each and every day

Photo One :  Taken on the west coast of the south island at a small town called Westport. The town can just be seen in the distance on the otherside of the bay. The west coast is reknown for its high rainfall which ensures it is always very green and has a thick covering of beech forest from the sea to the alps which are sometimes less than a few kms from the shore.

Photo two : a location called Butchers Dam, 10 kms south of Alexandra. The area is strewn with rocks and this photo was taken just meters from my bus where we had free camped for the night. What a stunning view to wake up to in the morning.

Photo three: back on the west coast, this time at Greymouth, my friends gathered to watch the most amazing sunset, i couldnt resist the backlit shot.

Photo four: still on the west coast these flightless birds are extremely inquisitive. This weka was so close i almost had to push him away to get him in focus. If we were not always alert he kept trying to get into our bus to see what he could steal.

Photo five : the golden sands of Kaiteriteri beach in the Nelson bays area. Very popular but not so crowded mid autumn when this was taken.

Some great photos here.

I often wonder how many serious photographers tweak their images when they get home to get the effect they want. Like audio mastering for photos ?
Also I wonder if the time of back and white and using film cameras has had its day now?

This line in your profile made me chuckle. What exactly is the role of a part-time husband?  :)
