That's awesome @1roomstudio !  You are so close with it . I really appreciate the humble expression , there is  no reason for going to dramatic.  The beauty is the  simplicity. Make me want grap fro, the air  and put  it into one of the  jars to have it ready all time once there is a need for.

This is SO cool. I love the ambient feel. That flute sounds great...really works in the mix.

When the percussion comes in at around 1:36 the mix opens up nicely. Without that openness the mix feels a bit congested at times. Maybe you can play with getting the glock out to the right a bit at those times....something along those lines.

Yes @Mo you have expressed what I was reaching for... so glad you enjoyed it.

@Leonard Scaper   very perceptive comment. My next move is to automate the volume and panning in the gong tracks... maybe a touch of EQ sweep there as well?

I will listen for that glock cluttering up the center...

Time to get to work 😎

An interesting one this @1roomstudio ...my feeling is that a sort of ambient piece, at one with nature, then nature has to play a prominent part.
For example here are a few David/Diane Arkenstone tracks where the FX of rain act as a white noise wash underlying the music.
Notice how in these tracks the use of thunder actually acts an a percussive reference point for the listener and puts then into the moment.

(By the way the last track is from Diane Arkenstone's 'Heart of the Vineyard' and is a cracking  instrumental album IMHO).

So I'd go with adding some Thunder into it at various points to re-reference the fact of rain and more prominent rain at curtain parts of the music.

Ohhhh look what I just found ...

This is sort of what I had in my head.

I wonder if you are trying for a more trance like section where the outside world disappears 'dreamtime' ummm that Aboriginal isn't it. ??.

At that point the  natural world rain backing disappears and the flute gong glock and possibly a synth pad become all. Plenty of reverb to glue it all together and to give an otherworldly feel. You can then user the reverb as an indicator or being in a dream state with less reverb in the 'real world' so it tells the listener they are moving between states.

At the end of the track then the sound of the rain re-enters the track more strongly as the listener returns to the real world. Perhaps again some Thunder to reference this.

Ummmmmm... not sure if this is what you have in mind but I think it's what I would do.

Yes indeed @MrBouzouki  thatís the idea. Thank you you for many good thoughts and suggestions... one or two of which I had stumbled into some form of on my own.

I had considered using thunder early on... frankly would have done it if I had a recording of thunder of my own. Iíve come to like the intimacy... thunder would definitely work... but I think it also stands on its own.

Reposted at the top... I think itís very nearly done 😎

All an artist can do is to organize the mood of the listener.
Coming from a place (and indeed today traveling back to a place) where rain is the constant mode, I am not sure if I would add rain noises to my music. But for your music it seems to work wonderfully @1roomstudio .

I certainly agree with Mo. so contra to what a lot of Americans believe, less is not moí. Moí is @Mo .
And I would agree with you too. I think itís finished.
Thank you very much for posting.
Kind regards, Gus

Thank you @LePlongeur Gus ... indeed others have assured me that itís finished, so time to send this on to be released.

Interesting journey, this piece. It started as a conversation with my sister-in-law Lora about a track station on Pandora based on a piece I composed a few years ago. She shared some of the music that streamed based on that track and expressed how much she enjoyed the tranquil mood and spirit. She also shared how the longer pieces really help transport her to a different space and made me promise to write longer pieces. I would not have conceived this piece nor would I have developed it out to six minutes without that inspiration. Thank you Lora!

Here is the track that started it all

In times we are always overwhelmed with noises and musically wise used to add  layer on layer on layer on layer or pull all register because we can, this approach is a relief.

Sounds of stars recorded by hubble

EDIT: I admit it's probably finished as it is with just slow down the recording

Very cool @Mo  especially the slow version.

I wonder what the actual source was (visible light? Radio waves? Infrared?) and how exactly the ďsonificationĒ is achieved?

Thanks for sharing. 😎

As far I know, they converted the visible light of the stars, suns conglomerates and galaxies  into a for human hearable frequence and then this sound turned out. The panning of the hubble pic from leftside to rightside here does the timline for the sounds when a frequence appears.
In our universe its all about waves and frequencies that's what it does so pretty exciting.

Hi @1roomstudio and @Mo here is a thread about this from way back
https://www.songwriter-forum-kitchen.com/forum/seo/3/nasa-made-music-from-the-distance-between-stars/5257/
I thought it was magical as well. :) Then @budhabuilding showed me .... when he sonified some church blurprints. :yawnee:     Ha,ha   :D
He probably can explain how it all works.
