Title: Hello from habiTat
Post by: habiTat on October 10, 2020, 02:15:50
Hello everyone,

I am considering a return to the fold..

This kitchen has been refitted since I first helped dutchbeat, binladeda and fiends fit the cupboards.

Can anyone fill me in on the last 6 years or so?

 :) habiTat

Well @habiTat  pleased to make your acquaintance!

Over the last 6 years or so people have come and people have gone.
Some things have changed and some things stay the same.
Things have, indeed, happened.
So, here we we are and the kitchen remains.

Welcome back!

@Dutchbeat still does what @Dutchbeat does and he's good at it!
@Mar T. steers the wheel.
@oorlab , @MrBouzouki  and I help out a little.

@Bill from November Sound  thanks for the head-up
@habiTat  - nice to meet online. As a non-native English speaker I sometimes feel a bit handicapped with regard to certain sayings or ways of putting things. Returning to the fold - if literally translated would mean - terugkeer naar de vouw, in my parents' language. But that does not make any sense.... maybe @Pleudoniem - as a teacher in English,  can explain a bit.

Anyway welcome back, take a chair, sit by the kitchenfire, and don't hesitate to share your songwriting tips and yields.

@oorlab   I believe "return to the fold" is in reference to a lost sheep coming back to the herd or "fold"  ... it also has biblical meaning.

Welcome back to the kitchen @habiTat.
I joined the kitchen about 6 years ago so probably we missed eachother back then.
It's always great when one finds the route back to kitchen ...and though there has been some refitting over the years, the essence remains :)

Happy cooking :)

I am afraid I have only been around for too short a period to be of any help.

But recently Iíve seen many old criminals return to the scene of the crime. And I am grateful for that, since they set the Kitchen up in the first place.
And the Kitchen could certainly do with some more lively ness.

For good understanding, I must add that my mentioning criminals is an attempt at humor.
To stretch that further: there used to be an indie record label that was called Criminal (itís a steal!!!). I donít know whatís become of that. It folded (the only meaning I know besides origami) I guess.

Recently Jill Brown (Glasgow) started a music channel/label called Criminal.
So letís try and hook up there for our music.
I hope youíll enjoy your stay here.
Kind regards, Gus

@LePlongeur - if what you're describing becomes a series it would be entitled 'Kitchen Crimes'... episode 1- the mysteries of the songwriter's missing recipe; episode 2: the untold tale of @Dutchbeat 's beat; episode 3: The forgotten secrets of Compression; episode 4: the mystery of the broken chord ....and so on....

Sorry to @habiTat . We seem to hijack your introduction.

But yes @Rachel_D , you have unraveled one of the motors behind my creativity.

In real live we often donít take the time to look at things from a different point of view, so I do that when writing.

Prompt writing, where we write something based on the same prompt/subject.
Let your heart decide I and II, where I wrote two songs based on Katze Koningbergís one lyrics.
In Lyrics, connected songs, where I have posted two examples of lyrics, a series written based on one idea.

If you want to really do something with your series idea, I would like to invite you to join Prompt writing, you donít have to ask if you can join just mingle in the discussion. I would love to welcome you.
Or to propose a collab between you and me (and maybe others - up to you) to kick some ideas around.
Anything we can do to get this forum more lively is welcome I think. Simply because it seems to be dozing off.

I like your kind of fun. Thank you! Itís much appreciated!!!
Kind regards, Gus
