Title: Fixed Chord Competition - Chloe's Lullaby
Post by: diademgrove on June 13, 2015, 20:08:33
Here's my entry, hope you like it.

https://youtu.be/mwa-APrKyLs

Chloe's Lullaby

Seagulls circling overhead
Watch them fly across the sky
Take me down to the water's edge
Lay with me on stony ground
Seagulls sing inside my head
Sweet Chloe's Lullaby

Seagulls searching overhead
Watch them land on sodden sand
Wash me clean in the evening tide
Tigers slide on Vaseline
Seagulls dance inside my head
To Chloe's rag time band

Spiders swimming by the spa
Watch them glide across the bay
Hear me sigh on a summer's night
Chloe sings her lullaby
Seagulls harmonise na na na na
Watch Chloe dance and sway

The film was taken in Bridlington and includes clips of "Walmington on Sea" (the set of some of the new Dad's Army film).

Now my ears are better and this song is complete I'll start reviewing more.

Hi Keith,

Probably your most "pop" song since See Dee Gee. Very listener friendly, yet still has that signature sound.
Vocal is strong. Like the BVs too.
Great to see Brid. Lovely East coast weather too.

Cheers,
Digger

I find the lyrics v intriguing... Very very cool song...

DB - these are great chords you picked!!

ETA Keith I've just clocked your comment about the movie- was wondering how you got all the war memorabilia into the movie.

Thanks for the comments, well chuffed, as we say in Hull.

Zedd, the lyrics were inspired by Digger's daughter's holidays in Bridlington and my memories of watching concerts at the Spa, including Ziggy era Bowie.

I like seagulls and am a little weird so they end up in my head.

Hope that helps.

Keith

Just rewatched it.
The bit when Bowie is playing in the window and the guy walks by looking at it is brill - works great.

Its always great to have a vid to watch while listening. Anyone who can get a song out on a fixed chord progression has my respect. Well done. Its just a shame so many minor chord were in the fixed progression as with a lullaby feek it would have been even better done in major chords, but hey, that wasn't your choice.

Very cool song and video Keith  8) it's more of a hypnotic piece than a lullaby...I like it :) Great vocals and lyrics  :) kudos

For me, a bit monotonous. But on the other hand, this is probably the goal that you had in mind.
Furthermore, it is nice to listen to. And a nice story.

Nice!
