An American in Paris, or Amsterdam
on: March 08, 2020, 15:05:29
YouTube is running over with ‘Brazilian tries to speak Dutch’ (etc etc etc), but this is American tries to sing Dutch. Donald Jones, a successful singer, TV and theatre guy was married to adèle bloemendaal, one of the top cabaret artists in NL.

And, if your still not convinced, on the same label as Dusty Springfield and the 4 seasons to name a few.

Enjoy!
(Ja, van Annie S., net als de b Kant).
Kind regards, Gus

Nice voice of Donald Jones,  @LePlongeur   -  married to La Bloemendaal ! That is a claim to fame in itself!

He sounds good.

As a native English speaker who is definitely NOT multi-lingual, I would hate to have to sing in a foreign language.  I'm afraid that I would make a fool of myself. ;)

The opposite must be tough as well. Many of you sing perfectly well in English, like @Chris Spruit , for instance, and it amazes me.

Hey @LePlongeur  … this is so cool!  :)

I love music of the world and various languages. I'm not saying I'm good at any like you are but I love trying to learn them.

So anyway it has yet to be released @Leonard Scaper  … but Melissa recently recorded a song in Italian for our friend who has remixed some of our other stuff. It is awesome! It was a challenge …. so Italian is a language that all college educated musicians/singers have to sing in because of art music/ arias/ etc...   …. but singing a pop song in that language is a whole different thing! There are so many words!
I can't wait to share it when it comes out.  :)
( oh and about that worry of making a fool of one's self … we sent multiple recordings of video and audio to our Italian friend for corrections …)

I've been trying to learn some Dutch … @Dutchbeat , @oorlab  ... on duolingo app but I can barely get past the first level. Ha,ha
