Carillonneur
on: June 08, 2020, 16:57:49
Hi everyone,
@LePlongeur and were talking about carillons so I thought I'd post this here.

Hey @LePlongeur I found the beiaardier !  :)    When I typed carillonneur into translate that's what I got.   :ok:

And I guess we do have carillons that are played in that same manner here.  (I've only seen ones played with a regular keyboard in the church.) One is a gift from Netherlands to the USA …. here is a video of new bells being made in the Netherlands to increase the musical capacity of the instrument.  :)  They started a renovation project 7 months ago! The 75 years of freedom project. It seems like it would be something important but recent events are obviously overshadowing everything.  :-\

One is a gift from Netherlands to the USA …

OK, but where are the gifts from say
Deutschland: thank you for stopping us
Belgium: thank you for saving our Trappist beers
France: thank you for stopping the waste of our Camemberts

No, just joking. We value our bells history and i’ve been to klokken gieterijen (manufacturing of bells) when I was still working.
And beiaardiers especially in Amsterdam.

There must be recordings of carillons (french word) without too much wind.
I’ll check YouTube or the internet for decent recordings. To be continued......
Kind regards, Gus

The French gave the statue of liberty, and the Germans Werner von Braun that lead by a weird twist of fate to Elon Musk.
My hmoetown had (or has, I have to check) the only Beiraardier school in the Netherlands...

Well …. mainly … it's just that "beiraardier" … is a really cool word!  8)

But now there is a school for it too? I guess that makes sense but I wonder if it can be combined with a self defense course of some sort with all those hammer fist attacks and everything.

A surprise entry, all this beieren.
Klokken beieren (as in bells will chime).

Make no mistake about this, as a beiaardier you actually drive all the bells with your fists.
Father and daughter Zwart, only a month ago in the Westertoren in Amsterdam, a modern take on the metier:

Including Huil, bid, lach (etc) by Ramses Shaffy. Ik even posted things about him before. And also, last year I finished a song cycle with a lyrics based on each and all the words in the title.

Note to Bill: please read the following carefully. Part of the word is Essex, as the guys who posted this.
But yes, the Westertoren too.

And Led Zep off sheet music:

Including photos of Schaatsen op het IJs.
Some 25 years ago involved in the restauration of the Zuiderkerk.
My oldest son (bass) sang in de Noorderkerk about half a year ago.
So you see, these churches aren’t still there as part of the history, they are actually still in use.

My church, also in Amsterdam is a very small one. And I am very pleased with that. It’s more fitting to be a little humble. God has enough on his mind right now.
I like this post a lot @Bill from November Sound .

Kind regards, Gus

Wow so it started with the word "beiraardier" and now some tremendous music … literally. Its huge the sound and It's truly amazing the feeling of musical finesse that they can achieve despite "beating" on these keys with such force.   :ok:
All the more reason for me to visit Netherlands right @LePlongeur and @Dutchbeat   … maybe someday when we are allowed to travel again.    :)

You are right, @Bill from November Sound
It’s a nice subject for lyrics. It all started with just one little word.....

But beiraardier is actually written beiaardier. One r too many.
And, before it’s honed in the wrong way in your long term memory (the one for long words)....
Kind regards, Gus

In Groningen (Groninger Museum) is a big exposition of things that have something to do with The Rolling Stones.

De beiaardier van de Martinitoren played some Stones songs.

Enjoy!!! @Bill from November Sound
Kind regards, Gus
