And... it just took me 3 / 4 tries to post a response to Habitat's Earthquake thread (I'm persistent  :) :))!

So, yes.... appears to be a bit flakey..

Correction: it's still acting weird. I often get a white screen when I try to post a reply. So copy (ctrl-c) everything to copy buffer before posting, or you'll can start typing all over again... Hope createaforum wil fix this soon! MM

Hey DB, I'd suggest run the forum on a dedicated server, implementing it with YaBB for example. I know how to do that. Problem is the data of this forum (all posts) cannot be migrated... Only solution would be to leave this forum online for history, and link to it from the 'new' forum... MM

that sounds like a good idea, i also like the linking to the forum history on this site so that we don't loose all our earlier conversations and silliness, but also some more more useful links and ideas we had (yes, we also had some useful ideas and links  ;D ;D ;D ;D)

but let's look into YaBB

and other ideas and tips are very welcome!

i was beginning to fear my (not very) 'funny' remarks about Kim Jong Un, the enlightened leader of North-Korea with infinite wisdom and a great sense of humor, in another thread, caused us a cyber attack....oh..what is happening...  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

i better stop mentioning this  :P :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

Ok DB, we weren't able to reach each other simultaniously today because the forum still acted weird. Let's see how the forum behaves this week. If still a lot of errors,  we should consider moving to another location.
Maybe we could set up a poll in that case, and when we collect enough votes that means action.

In that case we'll have to think about what requirements we have to a 'forum software', so when we launch, the new forum software will support the needs of the members better than the software behind this board. For example: better/more customisable/modern look and feel, app-support, mobile-friendly, more understandable notification system, awards like karma, social media integration, search engine optimization... And a lot more.
Hosting a forum on an external server is not expensive. We need server space capable of running the forum software (1 euro a month) and the kitchen already pays for the new domain name (9 euro's a year I believe). So I don't think cost is going to be an issue.

When we move that implies that:
-Everybody has to register again at a new forum.
-The new forum is completely clean, all discussion threads of this forum are lost. But as suggested, we could keep this forum alive for 'history' and link to it from the new forum...

MOVE!!! I'm not that good at change and I couldn't bare to loose all the amazing info and chit-chat that

we've accumulated on this forum over the last year or so  :o

I say let it stand as is for now and see if the kinks work themselves out  ::)

Maybe it's not your remarks about 'the enlightened leader of North-Korea' DB!

Maybe it's my song :o In the Name of God! causing a cyber attack!  :o

I totally understand DB! I certainly don't say 'kill the kitchen' ;-) What I try to state is that the kitchen has stability issues. Those are not caused by our administrators, but by lack of support from party 'createaforum'. If they are resolverd by the engineers of 'createaforum' we'll have no issue for now. I researched a little bit and found that 'createaforum' is lacking support and doesn't address users' concerns recently. So we have to be prepared we'll have to move some day in the future.
The forum has been acting normal last 24 hours I think, so that's great and buys us time. But I think in the available time (aside from enjoying each other's music) we should also ask the users which functionality they require when using a forum like 'the kitchen', so we can start searching for an appropriate solution before the 'available' time runs out. That's why I posted my statement earlier...
Just a thought! MM
