An interesting article entitled "Why People Collect Vinyl Records" but the author goes on to discuss formats in general. CD v's LP v's Digital Download.

It is an interesting article @MrBouzouki  My brothers took over my old albums when I moved out and they still have them in their collections. I don't have anything to play them on anymore. I just mostly listen to music on Sound Cloud and You Tube.

I use to have a lot of 8 track tapes, but I don't miss them so much.  ;D

@MrBouzouki   - interesting read indeed. The music experience is different, from streaming to CD, Vinyl and of course Live. It is about the space you're in. But also recordwise - vinyl if without scratches can convey a deeper dynamic. I like vinyl because of the sleeves & artwork. Just finished reading the book about Sgt. Pepper Lonely's Heart Club Band, accompany the latest re-issue. So much work & energy went into the package - it was part of the art.
Same goes for modern Dutch acts / like Demi Mazurka and Minco Eggersman / I bought their music in vinyl, enjoyed the listen and also the artwork.
Hopefully the Music comanies will leave some choice for the buyer to choose a format to one´s liking.

@Vince  - you should ask your brothers if they still listen to vinyl.

@MrBouzouki   - Since you mentioned it @oorlab , I forgot all about the album art and the liner notes. Buying an album for me back in the day was a major expense and I remember always listening to the album and going over the album art and notes. For me it was always a big deal and a big part of the listening experience.

I have never figured out-  where someone was mentioned playing vibes or just vibes, what the heck vibes was though. ;D
