Introducing the Baroque Theorbo

I thought I'd post this YouTube video about the Theorbo.

Lutenist Elizabeth Kenny explains how and why the theorbo was developed in the 17th century, what it was used for, and what it's like to carry it around on the train.

I guess in some ways our modern equivalent is the Harp Guitar as popularised by people like Andy McKee etc.

It's an interesting video and I think it's always worth finding out the history of unusual instruments :-)

never heard of this one and I wonder where you dug it up. Can't be more than 25 people (just guessing) who are able to tune it, let alone play it.
I like it a lot.
Thank you for posting this.
And may the lady alwaus have room in the underground for her and her instrument.

Kind Regards, Gus

Very cool MrB @MrBouzouki .....I love it.

I was thinking in the middle that the low string was out of tune and.....then she tuned it.

I love how she goes from smiling and friendly while talking to super serious while playing.
