KT Tunstall has said the music industry and economics of streaming need to change to put “music makers” and "music lovers” at its heart.

The Scottish singer-songwriter, who is supporting the Broken Record campaign started by Tom Gary of the band Gomez, explained why she thinks the current model of streaming is problematic.

A BBC short (not sure how visible it is in other countries)

It's very difficult for me to feel pity for any pop star. It makes sense what she's saying but she and all the others chose to play that game with the record company snakes to make their millions.
I mean .... their choice right?   ???
What if instead of working with record companies and trying to negotiate sweet deals for themselves they all said, "stop. Let's all be independent together." They could self release  ...... but then maybe people would realize that pop stars aren't much better than the average Joe making music in his basement. Without the billions of dollars in record company backing many pop musicians would be a sorry sight, I suppose.   ::)
I am, of course, concerned that Disney and Google basically own everything at this point and our governments won't do anything to stop it.    :-\
I'm Bill and I'm just a normal guy.

@MrBouzouki  - the BBC clip is unavailable in the Netherlands. As far as streaming goes,  Thom Yorke also put out some statements on that subject.
And may be earlier Bowie too

I heard KT on the topic before. She often likes to make strong points, but I can definitely see where she's coming from.
