Mysterious - Paddy McAloon
on: September 18, 2013, 21:11:21
I've never made a secret about how much I love the writing of Paddy McAloon.  I rate him higher than any writer and was lucky to meet  him whilst shopping in Marks & Spencer. We talked for at least 30 minutes and I thought that he was a gentleman.  This song will appear on his soon to be released album Crimson Red.  Quite a reclusive writer who rarely releases new material but a true genius in my opinion.  I've read that Mysterious was written about Bob Dylan.  I've heard snippets of all of the songs from the new album and think it's wonderful.  This is just a taster!

This is a really nice song.  I've never heard anything of his before, so thanks for the clue....I'll look him up ;D ;D  Funnily enough, the feel of this song, and the delivery and vocal style reminds me a lot of you ;D ;D ;D

Hey Bin old bean  ;D

My working class roots are very much in tact!    ;)  I came from a very poor family - proud about my roots and also my achievements  ;D Yes Mr McAloon has been a huge influence on my writing style as have many others - no excuses there.  ;)

Check the guy out though, talent beyond belief   ;D ;D ;D

Erm, are you pulling our legs Paul?  :D

If I had to put money on guessing the artist I'd say this was you, it sounds just like you, seriously  :o

Are you actually Paddy McAloon? Did you talk to yourself in Marks's?  :D

Either way, its good stuff, thanks for sharing.

It is a very , very good song actually

I must confess I know very little of Prefab - apart from the king of rock and roll - hot dog , jumping from - Alberkirky!

I have said before its uncanny how much you sound like him

But his name keeps on coming up in songwriters circles so I really should investigate more - thanks for sharing!

oh man, Paul, just came back from what seemed a very longggggg day at work, started this track from your hero Paddy...

and i enjoyed it even much more than i already thought i would....and indeed it is uncanny, how your voice, but also the vocal melody is like your music and the other way around.....i hope you are not fooling us...because i am even wondering whther you may have made this person up while it is you, like a sort of ziggy stardust....

did he ever hear  a song / or songs from you. If not i am all for a coordinated collaborative kitchen action of songwriters all sending a song from you to him..... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

really nice music, this is even with that rimshot drum (instead of snare, Kafla are you paying attention???) you have used on many of your songs....

amazing....how we really get influenced by what we like (i mean that in a very positive way)

off topic, but i will post my song where Mrs DB and i came the closest to a Yazoo song, in which the lyrics also even refer to the joy we had in lsitening to Yazoo, and all kinds of words and changed lines of yazoo lyrics are used to express that

but i definitely will listen to more of Paddy McAloon, what i liked here a lot, is how (in my ears) he uses traditional instruments, but it does sound different the way it is mixed it has a special sound

i hope some of this makes sense, long post to just say: great stuff! and i added a Karma point....

and: off topic again, Kafla!!!! Kafla!!! are you still there....is it technically possible to give Karma points a name that we select.....

so we can have some crazy ideas how we call this new songwriter anonymous currency???

yes, i talk too much  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yes Mr DB you can choose the name for karma - what would you like ?

I am paying real attention to these drums parts !

I also think Paul is paddy and that story about meeting him and the photo posted is all just an elaborate hoax 😝
