Sinterklaas - Saint Nicolas
on: December 06, 2019, 00:09:00
« Last Edit: December 07, 2019, 22:36:07 by oorlab »
This is an old tradition children song - sung in the Netherlands (and who knows elswhere too) on the eve of Saint Nicholas

https://soundcloud.com/oorlab/hoor-de-wind-waait/s-9lmxG .
Downloadable.
I

hear the wind blows through the trees
Even in the house, the wind blows
Will the good Saint come?
Now he thinks the weather is bad
Now he thinks the weather is bad.

Yes he rides through the dark night
On his horse, so fast
If he knew how we are waiting
Yes, then he would surely come
Yes, then he would surely come

   C         Em
Hoor de wind waait door de bomen
         G7                  C
Hier in huis zelfs waait de wind
        C      Em
Zou de goede Sint wel komen
    G7                    Am
Nu hij 't weer zo lelijk vindt?
           Dm     Gsus4 G C
Nu hij 't weer zo lelijk vindt?

Am         Em
Ja hij rijdt in donk're nachten
    F                   G
Op zijn paardje, oh zo snel
        C         Em
Als hij wist hoezeer wij wachten
       Dm              Am
Ja dan kwam hij zeker wel
        Dm             C----
Ja dan kwam hij zeker wel

What a wonderful performance @oorlab . I love that guitar chord that starts it off and the gentle way that you play and sing throughout.

Beautiful, really.

OMG @oorlab  ... I wish you would have messaged me on this!!!! This is exactly the kind of stuff that I want my students to hear!   :)
They love to try the songs in different languages!  :)  I want little ones to hear music of the world.
This is beautiful!

@oorlab

This is really beautiful! :) :) it is nice that you incorporated the 'wind' sound in the background, reflecting the lyrics (thanks for the translation!! ). I love the melody, guitar, vocal, language the overall effect feels dreamy and magical :)
