Apologies if this is covered already - I did look.

Anyone else getting messages on Soundcloud from people offering to distribute your track & promising loads of 'real follower'?

I'm very suspicious because:
1 - often the message is very complimentary about a track I just posted - even though it has no listens registered!
2 - it looks like money will be requested at some point (I'm cynical)
3 - several different messages like this have come to me so why all of a sudden?  somebody thought up a scam (I'm cynical)
4 - it's never that easy
5 - my singing is sh*te yet they don't care
6 - I'm cynical, suspicious and tbh I'm not bothered about fame & fortune anyway

I can't believe it's only happening to me?

no @GTB , it is not only happening to you

it even happens to me  ;D ;D ;D

me, myself, and Pie

dammit! I thought I'd become special ;-)

Hey @GTB     BLOCK THEM!     :bonk:

Always block and report them and hopefully you'll get less. it's getting bad these days.
Bill
Songwriter, Keyboards, Arranger, Producer & Engineer for November Sound

November Sound is based on the Mother, Father & Son musical trio of Melissa, Bill & Will. I'm the father so anything I post will have my wife singing and/or my son playing percussion.

So I occasionally respond to the band spammers now.

They send me messages like "Listen to my song! Down load it here! Like and share! Subscribe to my youtube! Follow me here!"

Every once in a while I just say , " uhm.... we're not your customers. We're just creatives who want to make friends in the world. We have all that stuff too." Then I ask , "where do you learn this stuff? Ehy do you send messages like this? Is there a class that teaches this?"

I do a more simple method, because I am really great too. Or so they say.
I post at SoundCloud only when I really really have to. Other than that I use SoundClick, far smaller, far more ethical.
If the song you asked to play has  been played, they let you listen to the one before the last, by the same artist. Instead of where they expect the best income.

Love stinks (J. Geils Band) SoundCloud stinks (Gus).
Kind regards, Gus

Unfortunately there are some bad hombres active on Soundcloud, @GTB . Blocking them right away is the good rule of conduct, like @Bill from November Sound  says.
I couldn't say, like @LePlongeur  that SC would stink. They once were so graceful to allow me and my daughter when we visited Berlin, to have a tour and small talk at their office. My impression then (and now too) is they were a bunch of musicians, trying to keep up the platform for creativity.

On their community site
https://community.soundcloud.com/search?q=spammers there is  a lively discussion on spammers, scammers and bots.

Aah. ... @oorlab .... now it makes sense.

I didn't realize you had a personal connection with them.

@Bill from November Sound  - personal connection is not quite the way I put it, but the company imho view, at least when I visited them seemd to have a real interest in community building.

It's scammers most of whom are outside the US. If you do a WhoIs search their domains are only registered for a year. When I find their Email contact I used a free service called Mail Bait to spam them.

The prey on young hungry artists.
