;D ;D ;D ;D ;D i remember of more of a year ago @budhabuilding told me that it would theoretically be possible by using computers to copyright almost all possible melodies at once  ;D ;D ;D ;D we had a good laugh about that idea ....but @budhabuilding was seriously considering it

but now....a few guys.. really did do this...i mean, to create and store millions and millions of potential melodies at once .....

i think they make a good point for a discussion about copyrights based on melodies / note sequences....

such form of blanketing Intellectual property with IT will be thrown out of the courts pretty soon. I wouldn't put my money on it.

When I hear a melody, whatever, I recognize it....isn't that spécial, after 40 years active listening it's already that far
Only the melodies of @Dutchbeat and @oorlab they seam to be a bit particular..

So that's it then, no more songwriting to be done. This is one of the last fields I was expecting to be replaced by a machine in 😄
Luckily, as our 'Other Arts' forum suggests, many of us have a secondary hobby we can now switch to!

In all seriousness, I like the tongue-in-cheek approach those guys take to what seems to become a problem these days for some musicians. A problem created by laws being taken to absurdity, in my opinion.

@Michael - would not call it a problem caused by laws, but by technology - or better, a mismatch between ethics and law. In songwriting there would not be a big problem, but with patents and pharmacy, if AI is used to monopolize certain classes of medice, that would be sad.

The guys that made this program are doing it to save songwriting.
They want to stop these big monster corporations from putting copyright claims on the minor scale and so on. Beat them to the punch so to speak. By copyrighting all the melodies they then give them back to the people.
