up or down?

Are there any songs that immediately lift your mood? Perhaps there are certain songs that do exactly the opposite - guaranteed to leave you feeling low.  Do you think the music we listen to and write can to some extent shape aspects of our personalities?  :)

"The Tide Is High" by Blondie never fails to lift my mood, no matter how I'm feeling.

I think the stuff i usually write is the polar opposite of how i am - why do i do it? I really don't know. I tend to write gloomy stuff because it feels comfortable, yet i'm generally a happy go lucky sort of person.
