Ummmmmm - it looks like things are getting steadiest worse. Any comments folks on this news item ?

The situation at SoundCloud is quickly deteriorating, with bankruptcy potentially next.  Company CEO Alex Ljung has just announced the layoff of 173 employees.  Offices in San Francisco and London will be shutting down immediately. Amidst a bevy of possible buyouts, SoundCloud’s financial system is heading towards implosion.  The company has just announced that 173 staffers are being let go, with two major offices going dark.
According to official word from company CEO Alexander Ljung, offices in San Francisco and London are getting shut down.  Effective immediately, all operations will be shifting to Berlin and New York.

If SoundCloud goes bankrupt? -----  for me it'll be something like this.

Songwriter, Keyboards, Arranger, Producer & Engineer for November Sound

November Sound is based on the Mother, Father & Son musical trio of Melissa, Bill & Will. I'm the father so anything I post will have my wife singing and/or my son playing percussion.

Thank you @MrBouzouki for bringing that subject up. I've also been watching the developments at SoundCloud with concern. There's still hope, but we probably have to take some disadvantageous changes or even a complete shotdown into account. And therefore I guess it would be interesting to talk about alternatives.

Do any of you have experience with the following:

- Bandcamp
- ReverbNation
- Myspace
- SoundClick
- Hearthis
- any other music platforms

Please share your opinions, pros and cons...

I've tried just one of those above, hearthis.at. It's been a while since and I don't really remember what I disliked most. But it all was very unclear and confusing. I still got my profile there, and probably should get rid of it, but to be honest I'm not in the mood to log in there and search for how to delete a profile... ::)

Another possibility to make your music accessible is a personal website. I got myself one recently (markluto.com). Of course it's not an alternative, since there's no community and no random listeners at all. It's also more complex and costly. But on the other hand you have way more possibilities and you're in complete control of what's there (and what isn't). And it's your own, personlal platform, which is quite cool. ;D So it's not an alternative, but for me it's a good addition to my Soundcloud profile.
