what do you put to the left side and what in the right side,stereowise???

I was just wondering....
but what do you put to the left side and what you place in the right side stereowise.....and does that matter?

I was even thinking..    ... ... .....does that matter from a neurological standpoint? 

no really  , and....
do you have a preference for putting certain instruments or sounds always more to one specific side?
I would be interested to know

I wondered because I put my headphones on wrong once again....so left to the right ear and...(sigh, we got it Dutchbeat... )
and I didn't like my mix, changed the headpones and liked it better   

no really    try it on the current mix and song you are working on...... the ears, and probably the brain hemispheres (cough...cough) are just not that interchangeable like they are in a graph of your stereo mixing field....

I am just telling you.....and you heard it from me first 

you are thinking, I probably should have my ears checked, and get a brain scan right???

but....I think there is more to this....... , much more......

Just place your beer on your right side if you are right handed (and the other way around if you are a south pawn) and you will be just fine

This how it works for me....

I'm panning my tracks in a mix in a simple but logical way:

If i record music the instruments are placed logical for the musician.

So for the right handed drummer. bass and snare are in front hh is left and ride right
Toms are spread in the same way as for the musician
(if it's live it's opposite)

If you mix classical music i place the music in the same way as the conductor and the audience the music will hear

Piano... low end left.... high end right.

etc etc

But when we are going into the field psycho acoustics things get little bit strange....
position is done by more aspects then left and right but also in fase and delay times...ambisonics.
