Who Else Is Itching To Play For An Audience?
on: December 09, 2020, 08:10:57

I'm not seeing much light at the end of the tunnel with COVID-19 raging in the US. A lot of venues are out of business do to the virus. My heart goes out to the club owners and the musicians who rely on music to make a living.  ::OSMAN::  ::Dutch:: ::e-guitar3:: ::trumpet::

I miss the energy and the vibe. I miss the comradeship of my brothers and sisters in song. During the warmer months I'd sit on the porch with my classical guitar and play flamenco sounding stuff for the neighbors.

The US will get widespread use of vaccines starting in June. I guess that's the glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.

Perhaps when we get the all clear sometime in late 2021 bands can maybe work together and do mini outdoor concerts to reignite the flames for live performances in the hearts of their fans and create some excitement.

Maybe we can play some benefit shows for the club owners who have been hurt by this scourge?

Your thought?

@CGHound   Maybe people will be more than ready for some human interaction and entertainment. I was starting to play at some open mics and getting over being really nervous , so I'll probably have to start over again if any places survive.

A lot of shops depend on the period between Thanksgiving and Christmas  to put them into the black ink so they can survive another year.  With this new round of clamping down by our rulers,  I don't think most will make it.

indeed @CGHound   - hoping to sing with the choir soon, and playing with the band at work for real (not in the video - it is starting to feel really disconnected). The pandemic I feel is a once in a lifetime happning, a world crisis - we have to sit it out, and show some solidarity, also with venue owners.

I have not played out in 40 years or so. Sometimes I miss it. When I do, I sit out on the back porch and play for the deer herd.

I was so much older then....I'm younger than that now.

I still have recordings of gigs. They are all reel to reel. Hey, do you remember cassettes?
Reel to reel were way before them.
So, with the exception of playing before real close friends once per very 10 years.
Stage is for the young and wild.
But I recognize the urge for going.
And I hope we can relatively quickly return to some normalcy.
Kind regards, Gus
