Your Favourite Musical Decade
on: November 11, 2013, 22:45:26
Hey kitcheners,

It would be interesting to discover which decade you consider to be your favourite for music.   Do you favour the sounds of the 1950's - Bill Hayley, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly etc or perhaps The sounds of the 60's - The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel etc. Perhaps you prefer an earlier or later decade.  Which decade did you favour?  Did you live through a particular decade or wish that you could have done so to hear the musical delights first hand?  Is your decision also based on the musical fashions of the time?  :)

Ooh - tricky. My favourite two bands are from the sixties, and there was a load of great music, but growing up in the late 70s I loved that period between about 77 and 82/3 ish. There just seemed a great variety; rock, new wave, punk - something new every week or so. I think it helped that the artists weren't over exposed as they are today - creates an air of anticipation.

The 60's were great but I'd love to have lived through the Rock 'n' Roll era of the 50's.  I think the fashions of the day also played an important role in the appeal if the decade.  :)
