~~ Meditation 6 | Hippie Jon ~~ (and rant)
on: January 06, 2020, 03:00:45
I need comments on the EQ!
How does it sound through your speaks?
Are there parts with too much or too little?

Here's the link:

Thank you to everyone for helping with constructive critiques. Let the rant commence.

I wrote this song last Friday morning after a long night and recorded it after buying bananas and face wash at the grocery store that day. The bananas were samely wholesome but on my way to them I passed an aisle of prepackaged,  pretzel and hummus to-go snacks.

I like both those so much, but today was different because I stayed up too late the night before and the white light from above was casting a painful glare at me from the pretzel and hummus packages. Then I realized, perhaps, the purpose that all these individual prepackaged pretzel and hummus to-go packs serve: frivolity.

One serving of pretzels and hummus surrounded by plastic with an 800 year half life.

But what can one person do? Write a song about it!

So I wrote a song about it. I wrote a song about how I don't feel free, because I feel helpless facing such odds.
But I'm not helpless; I'm helpful! You are helpful! Let's all help each other!

Here are the lyrics, they really don't say much but as Chilon once said, less is more:

I looked around
this downtown station
got along
with everybody else ridin that train
but thereís no track
no destination
i donít look back
nothin in the past that i can bring back to save me now, no

i play guitar I donít feel good
because theres too much plastic covering my food
i looked around i couldnt see
too much smog from gasoline i donít feel free

VERY cool piece!!!! I love it!

Maybe look at 300 Hz -  400 Hz for a slight cut on the master....maybe.  Somewhere down in that range might be helpful. That's from a listen on decent earbuds here in my office. I'll give it another spin in the studio tonight with my seriously-good-but-way-too-expensive headphones.  :)

Thanks so much! If you get around to it I'd love to know how it sounds on the waytoogood headphones but I understand how it goes sometimes :)

I just listened on the Beyer 1990's....I would not touch a thing. Great separation and depth and very good tone all around.

This is a seriously fun listen.

@Jon - most enjoyable upbeat snog. I like the experimental intro and then the fast guitar part.
EQ sounds good here.

Hola @Jon

Your song, despite the lyrics depicting bad moments, transmits joviality and optimism and because of the jumps of images generated by the lyrics I have heard the song seeing the rush in the movements and actions that a traveler usually has...

The mix is very logical and well balanced. The voices of the beginning may mislead a little but it's just my idea
