A new song

I am also curious if you can figure out the lyrics, as I think they are quite cryptical. It is quite progrock-based, but with other influences as well, as usual.

20,000 Leaves

The cork’d been peeling off
All they needed was to sever
Pieces, crumbling to the ground
Stripping from the tree

So that pelting it with ghosts
Indiscriminate like leaves
That were all over the place
Felt like open door September
In May.

And its rosin crept like tears
From the flaky brittle boughs
It was fed the newfound ghosts
Almost randomly about

20.000 leaves
Pick your colours to prevail
There’s enough to mix into
Yet another fairytale
Look! the tree is bare
It is open and defenseless
You can tell it to believe
And scare the sucker senseless

Fictions were assumed
about a heart carved in the face
That was now being exposed
With the crust gone.

Some extra lines were thrust
Stabbing figures in the wood
As if only to suggest
It had not quite understood

They had just drawn up its past
And were ready to rebuke
And the splinters rained like blood
From the mutilated trunk

Been grinding away in the studio all day here...this is my first real listen.

I LOVE how that guitar sounds right off....fantastic tone ! Man, I absolutely love what you do....this tune has so much dynamic interest. Great sounding percussion.

just a thought...when you go into that instrumental section at around 3:30....somehow put that great guitar tone in the back for a bit and then bring it back in again.

Watch that ending....those continuing high hat hits at the very end distracted me. I wanted the guitar to be the last thing I heard.

Made slight modifications. The basic idea is the same though. Curious what you think.

@Dutchbeat Thanks man! :) I am happy you liked it. Yes, the guitar took a bit of tinkering with virtual amps to get exactly the tone that I wanted.

The intro at almost a minute is way too long (Yeah I know, prog rock) :)
Interesting song for sure, it's got a good groove and the guitar sound is spot on.
I like the different delivery of the lyrics

@realkevm @Jurgen You could be right about the intro. Possibly a shorter one wouldn't be all that authentic for progrock, but then, these are modern times. They didn't know guitar modelers in the 70s, and rap hadn't been introduced in it either. So, if I eat up the first half minute of the song, then that would be licensed. It wouldn't damage the song, I hear, so ok, let's do it. Apart from that, I'm not really bothered about conventions, anyway.

The version you'll hear now is about 20 seconds shorter.

@Pleudoniem

This is awesome! Wow those skills and production.. The guitar sounds perfect. Crisp and raw. You've done something really special in this one. It's not easy to create a piece like this and to tie it all together in the end. It's really easy to lose the 'form' when adding all the elements but you managed to control everything. Amazing attention to details as well. I'm impressed to say the least. Regarding the intro - it's perfect  ::thumb::

Hey!

Really cool weird vide going on this. Funny acutally. I've been listening alot to "black midi" and I really think sound alike the singer in that band.

The synths that come in at 1:10 is really just awesomly mixed into the song. Really great guitar tone.

Liked it (Y)

An amazing production @Pleudoniem  ::thumb:: ::thumb:: the guitar alone is worth the admission and all the layers somehow work... even the electronic bleeps.
Lyrics? Noone took you up on your question ... something might pop after getting past all the brain freezes and tingles this evokes, just not yet.
You are at the top of your form here- I liked this alot ::heart::

@robertkc is right @Pleudoniem ... you are in a rich vein of creativity at the moment I think.
I agree with others about the guitar tone but this is so much than the sum of it's parts, like a tree for example ;-)

I'm sure it's not your intention, but lyrically for me it brings to mind the recent destruction of more of the rainforest with the tree being an allegorical device  to describe our crumbling world. Probably wide of the mark but sometimes it's good to just leave people to find their own messages.

Good Job and keep creating ... lots to like here

 Hola @Pleudoniem

Well, your songs never leave me indifferent and I like that.
The lyrics?  I enjoy seeing those images that you portray and that your music suggests to me. You are daring and that's fine ::thumb::

@Mora Amaro La Loba Thank you very much :) It's great that you took in the lyric by just letting the images work on you. I normally try to interpret what I read in lyrics, but of course lyrics can speak to different people in many different ways.

@MrBouzouki  Yes, this was the best one I've ever made. From now on, things can only get worse. - erm no, just kidding :) But thanks for your compliment :)

@robertkc Any idea yet? I am curious :)
